AMF Chandler - 4/8/18

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler Lanes and we had great turnout with 108 total entries (72 qualifying and 35 economy parlay), 30 total cashers, a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and paid out over $5,200.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Players bowled on the Kegel 42ft Autobahn oil pattern. Most of the players played in the middle of the lane trying to push their ball out past the 2nd arrow.  This house typically has a lot of friction and it didn't take the pattern very long to break down and forced players to move further left.

Brunswick Mesa - 4/1/18

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Mesa. It was on the Easter holiday which made the turn out a little smaller, but we were happy to be able to provide an event for those that were looking to bowl on the special day. The event drew 72 total entries (55 qualifying entries & 17 economy parlay), had 21 cashers, a 1 in 3.4 cash ratio and paid out over $3,000.00 in main and side event prize fund.

The players bowled on the newest version of the PBA Wolf oil pattern that is 33ft in length instead of 32 ft and it yielded a variety of scores through out the day. It was very clear that the very fresh was extremely difficult and had the lowest scores. However, as they were bowled on more and more the scores got higher and higher as it seemed that increased play made the short pattern more predictable and easier to manage. Even with that said, the cut scores were very low taking an average cut score of +10 to advance to the quarter finals, which isn’t even bowling average.

AMF Peoria - 3/25/18

The event today was our final event for our Winter Circuit, which runs January through March.  We had a pretty good turnout, considering there were multiple tournaments going on the same day.  Also some bowlers that still had a chance to try and move into the Top 4 of the Winter Circuit standings with a win or cash.  We ended up having 82 entries (59 qualifying & 23 economy parlay), 25 cashers and a 1 in 3.1 cash ratio. The event paid out over $3,800.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a very tough 41ft Kegel Turnpike oil pattern that challenged bowlers to make shots consistently.  Bowlers had early success playing right early on and then trying to moving inside once the oil started to carry down.

AMF Union Hills - 3/17/18

Our event this weekend was at AMF Union Hills lanes and we had a decent turn out considering it was opening weekend of the Phoenix City tournament and also St. Patrick’s Day. We had 72 entries (47 qualifying and 25 economy parlay), 25 cashers, a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and we paid out a little over $3,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on the 39ft Winding Road oil pattern which yielded some interesting results. At most tournaments the cut scores are higher in the C division and lower in the A division because of the increased amount of handicap in the C division. This tournament was the complete opposite with the A division cut score taking +100 and the C division cut score going as low as the +50 range. The pattern appeared to allow players to play in their comfort zone for the most part with a variety of playable options.

Mesa East - 3/10/18

Our event this weekend at Mesa East Bowl was a two-squad standard, and sometimes that means less entries since there aren’t as many squads. Well it was jam packed with almost 50 bowlers per squad! We had a total of 96 entries (63 Qualifying & 33 Economy Parlay), 27 cashers, with a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and paid out over $4,750.00 in main and side event prize fund.  The players bowled on a very tough 38ft Kegel Alcatraz oil pattern that had low cut scores for the day. Most divisions took in the +40 range to advance, which means that they only had to bowl 10-20 pins over average for the entire series, which is bowling a small amount over your average each game. The medium length pattern allowed players to play a variety of angles including down and in and deep inside angles, but if you got it a little too far outside, then your ball wouldn’t come back.

Brunswick Kyrene - 3/4/18

The event today was another great one with 121 entries (73 qualifying & 48 economy parlay), 34 cashers and a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio. The event paid out over $5,750.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a very tough 32ft Wolf oil pattern that had the most success out near the gutter early but as the oil carried down allowed players to have more success inside. The pattern can be confusing for some. Where most patterns get “dryer” and hook more as games are bowled, this pattern tends to do the opposite.

Lakeview Lanes - 2/25/18

Our event was at Lakeview Lanes in Sun City this weekend. It is a center that we aren't at that often, but when we are it is always a pleasure. They take great care of the center and it has a vibe and atmosphere that is hard to find in the rest of the Arizona bowling centers. It has a full resturant and acts as an ammenity to the senior community in Sun City. The event drew a good turn out for only having two squads. There were 66 total entries (45 qualifying & 21 economy parlay), 20 total cashers, a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and we paid out a little over $3,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a very tough 40ft Kegel Highway to Hell oil pattern that had very low cut scores for the day. Most divisions took in the +50 range to advance, which means that they only had to bowl 10-20 pins over average for the entire series, which is bowling a small amount over your average each game.

AMF Tempe Village - 2/18/18

Our event this weekend was at AMF Tempe Village lanes, which we hadn’t been at in quite a long time and it showed! The bowlers were ready to come out and bowl in this center again! We had a great turnout with 122 total entries (86 qualifying entries & 36 economy parlay entries) 33 total cashers, a 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a 47ft Scorpion oil pattern that started off kind of tough, but nothing crazy and only got easier and easier as the day went on. The last squad really had the high scores, but it also was a huge one with 50 bowlers on it!

Brunswick Desert Sky - 2/10/18

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Desert Sky lanes! We had a great turn out with 84 entries (60 qualifying entries and 24 economy parlay), 24 cashers, and a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out over $5,200.00 in main and side event prize fund.  We had two bowlers, Andy Morin and Ben Dewberry, win the Momma’s Mystery score for a total of $950.00.  It just goes to show you how much $5.00 can win you if your score is drawn.

The players bowled on a 36ft Brunswick Phase 1 oil pattern that provided slightly higher cut scores than usual. Due to the shorter oil pattern it allowed players to get some free hook on the gutter which is similar to the house shot. However, it is still a sport pattern, and isn't a walk in the park. There isn't a lot of oil in the middle of the lane, like a house shot, so you have to get it to the outside friction or the ball will run high.

AMF McRay - 01/07/18

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay and had another good turnout.  We had 97 total entries (63 qualifying & 34 economy parlay) for 3 squads, 26 prize winners and a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio. The players bowled on the 43ft Dean Man’s Curve oil pattern that was a very difficult pattern to play. Players had trouble playing on the outside of the lane and there wasn’t a lot of margin of error when playing inside.  Pair to pair were big differences, but once the oil pattern started to break down in the 3rd squad, then scores went through the roof.  Congrats to Bob Hansen for shooting 300  and also to Sean Ashley for a nice 299 games!

We want to welcome Andre Sandoval, Jason Lowery and Herb Grassl to the SFT AHT family! We hope you guys all had a good time in your first SFT AHT event.  Congrats to Eric Flick and Marcus Boner on being this weekend’s parlay power players! Marcus took it the furthest turning his $25 into a $270 3rd place finish!
