AMF Chandler - 4/8/18

Location:

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler Lanes and we had great turnout with 108 total entries (72 qualifying and 35 economy parlay), 30 total cashers, a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and paid out over $5,200.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Players bowled on the Kegel 42ft Autobahn oil pattern. Most of the players played in the middle of the lane trying to push their ball out past the 2nd arrow.  This house typically has a lot of friction and it didn't take the pattern very long to break down and forced players to move further left.

As always, we want to welcome our first-time bowlers to the SFT AHT family! Welcome Zachary Lynn, Brandon Bailey, Jeff Temonia, Timothy Lynn and Nicole Smyth to our little bowling family! We hope you all had a good time at your first event and we look forward to seeing you at the next one! Also, congrats to Zachary, Jeff and Brandon on advancing to the quarterfinals in their first ever event! Also, congrats to Clay Fritz, Brandon Bailey, Zack Beckett and Josh Black on advancing to the quarter finals through the economy parlay! We almost always have 1 bowler that advances by winning the parlay and bowling well again.  Congrats and nice bowling to everyone!

The quarter finals, like the rest of the event, was medium to high scoring with the standings be pretty tight and being determined by the final game of the quarters. In the A division, with only 7 players, we advanced to the top 2 which were James Roethle and 2nd place was a tie between Michael Fitzgerald and Bobby Borland.  So in order to break the tie there was a 9tt & 10th frame roll off with to determine who would advance to the Semi-Final match.  Bobby started the match off and was able to 9 spare.  Michael through his first shot, but it was a little inside leaving him the 4-7-6 split.  He wasn’t able to covert and Bobby finished his tenth frame clean in order to move into the Semi-Final match again James Roethle. In the B division, we had #1 seed James Franko, who had been hot all day, taking on Sammi Hernreich. Lastly, in the C division we had #1 seed Jordan Huglin taking on newcomer Jeff Temonia!

The A division match was fairly close with Bobby and James going back and forth.  In the 10th frame Bobby was able to finish strong and put pressure on James.  James needed a strike on his 1st ball in the 10th, but he left a solid ten pin giving Bobby the win, 236 to 231.  The B division match was also very close.  James Franko had been hot all day, but Sammi was able to keep up with him.  It all came down to the tenth frame and Sammi needed a mark to win, but ended up chopping the 6-10 spare and gave James the win, 209 to 201.  The C division wasn’t as close as the other two matches with Jordan defeating Jeff, 226 to 211.

The final match was a bit of back and forth for a bit with each bowler leaving a few makeable spares.  James, who had been running hot most of the day, could not carry any pins like he was earlier in the day.  Then Jordan got hot and put together a 3 bagger in the 3rd, 4th and 5th frame to jump out to a lead and she never looked back.  Bobby started to rally towards the end of the match by putting together 4 strikes in a row, but was not able to keep up giving Jordan the win and her 1st SFT AHT title and $1,000.00 first place prize! Also, congrats to Bobby Borland for coming in 2nd and also to James Franko on 3rd! Thanks to everyone that came out this weekend to make this such a successful event! We look forward to seeing you at our next event on Sunday, April 15th at Brunswick Tri-City!
