AMF Tempe Village - 2/18/18

Our event this weekend was at AMF Tempe Village lanes, which we hadn’t been at in quite a long time and it showed! The bowlers were ready to come out and bowl in this center again! We had a great turnout with 122 total entries (86 qualifying entries & 36 economy parlay entries) 33 total cashers, a 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a 47ft Scorpion oil pattern that started off kind of tough, but nothing crazy and only got easier and easier as the day went on. The last squad really had the high scores, but it also was a huge one with 50 bowlers on it!

We want to welcome another group of new bowlers to the SFT AHT family. Tim Hafkey, Douglas Poe, David Corcino, Brandi Calderon, Bob Connors, and Kevin Foster were all bowling in their first event this weekend and we want to welcome them all to the growing SFT community! We hope you all had a good time in your first event and we look forward to seeing you at the next one! A special congrats to Douglas Poe and David Corcino who also advanced to the quarter finals in their first event ever. Also, congrats to David Corcino who did it through the economy parlay!

The quarter finals the scores were a bit lower then they had been the rest of the day, but it was because we re-oiled before that round. In the A division the players moving on were Dave Inoshita as the #1 seed and Charlie Price as the #2 seed. Dave was making a return after taking quite a bit of time off. In the B division it was 2017 Player of the Year Lynn Arthur as the #1 seed followed up by Jonathan Jillson in his first semi final match and Rene Sandoval who is gunning for his first title in 2018. In the C division it was new comer David Corcino, who was on fire vs Adrian Luma who was bowling in his 2nd or 3rd event, but both players are fairly new and have really been improving a lot.

The semi finals matches were some what close. Jillson struck out in the 10th frame to force Renee to strike out and he wasn’t able to, so Jonathan was the B division champion. In the C division, Adrian Luna had a few too many missed spares and was defeated by David Corcino. Lastly, Dave Inoshita got a lead on Charlie and never looked back to become the A division champion.

The final match started off with Dave Inoshita on fire and it never changed from that, he popped off his biggest game of a day with a nice 256 scratch! He ended up going on to win the $1,000.00 top prize, $600.00 went to David Corcino and $400 to Jonathan Jillson in 3rd! Congrats guys nice bowling!

We look forward to seeing you all at our next event, next Sunday at Lakeview lanes!
