AMF Mesa Finals - Shawna Strause vs. Mitchell Hays vs. Dustin Wengeler

Our event this weekend was at AMF Mesa, and we had another good turnout for our 2-squad event! We would see 77 total entries (59 qualifying and 18 parlays), 25 cashers, 1 in 3.1 cash ratio and paid out over $3,900.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on a pattern we do not use often that is a tough one to get used to. The PBA pattern Badger that is 52 foot in length. This is the longest oil pattern used in competitive play and “hooking” your ball into the pocket is not really an option at the beginning. You have to get used to your ball fading back high flush until they start to break down a little bit.  The big difference throughout the day was spares and with so much oil on the lane it was hard to “hook” at spare attempts that you would normally be able to convert.

We would see 114 total entries (83 qualifying and 31 parlays), 32 cashers, 1 in 3.56 cash ratio and paid out over $7,100.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on the 40ft 2010 USBC Senior Master’s oil pattern that was very misleading. Many of the bowlers would think that since there was more oil volume that it would play like a house shot, but with all the oil on the outside of the lanes it made it very hard to swing the ball. Because the pattern was flat in the middle and heavy on the outside of the lane. Bowlers had to make their shots or the ball out sail or crossover on each shot if you missed in or a bit outside. The cut scores were low with bowlers only needing to bowl a little over their average to advance to the quarterfinal round. The main key was to leave makeable spares and pick them up.

Our event this weekend was at AMF Mesa and we had a pretty good turnout considering there were other events going on throughout the Valley.  We had 102 total entries (75 qualifying & 27 economy parlay) for 2 squads, with 30 prize winners and a 1 in 3.4 cash ratio.  We paid out over $5,600 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a pattern we do not use often that is a tough one to get used to. Our season points race, to determine our Player of the Year, is also broken into quarterly circuits with prizes awarded for the Top 4 bowlers in each quarter. We had a lighter turnout considering there were plenty of other events going on throughout the Valley and especially with the NFL season kicking off the previous weekend. We had 85 total entries (70 qualifying & 15 economy parlays) for 2 squads, with 24 prize winners and a 1 in 3.54 cash ratio. We paid out over $6,500 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a pattern we don’t use often that is a tough one to get used to. The PBA pattern Badger that is 52 foot in length.
