Bowlero Kyrene

Our event this weekend was a huge one! 129 total entries with 84 qualifying entries and 45 economy parlay entries with a payout of over $6,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The event had a cash ratio of 1 in 4.1 and paid out a first-place prize of $1,100.00!

The players bowled on a Bear oil pattern that wasn’t easy by any means, but also wasn’t incredibly difficult. It appeared that many of the players that were able to get inside and slow curve it from left to right started to do well as the squads and games went on. The average cut scores for the event were around +40 to +50. This mean the players were basically just needing to bowl average to make the cut.

AMF McRay - 1/12/20

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay and drew 110 total entries (72 qualifying and 38 economy parlay), had 28 cashers, a 1 in 3.9 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a 35ft Boardwalk oil pattern that played a bit harder than usual. This pattern can tend to be high scoring, because it allows some miss room to the right if the bowler is able to get far enough to the right. That did exist on some of the pairs, but other pairs didn’t have the same look.  The scores on the fresh pattern were a bit low but scoring exploded in the later squads with most bowlers shooting close to +70 to make the cut.

Bowlero Via Linda - 1/5/20

Our season opener of 2020 was an awesome one! We were at Bowlero Via Linda and we had 100 entries, 27 cashers, 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a 40ft Athens pattern that was very misleading.  Many of the bowlers would think they had it figured out and had a good shot and then they would move pairs and find it hard to find that same shot again.  Because the pattern wasn't very long or very short, it allowed players to attack it from all angles.  We had straighter players do well and players that like to cover more boards and curve it more. It was a great turnout and a lot of fun in our season opener.

AMF Chandler - 12/8/19

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler Lanes on the 35ft Cheetah oil pattern! It was our final standard event of the 2019 season, and we were happy to see the SFT AHT family come out and support the last event regardless of everything going on this time of year. The event had 95 total entries (66 qualifying entries & 29 economy parlay entries), 26 prize winners, a 1 in 3.65 cash ratio and a payout of over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The cheetah pattern had some high scores at time and even one bowler (Ron Gonzales) who ran the front 10 of the first game of the quarterfinals, but not everyone was able to do that so the cut scores in general were not that crazy considering this is normally a higher scoring sport pattern. The average cut score for the day was around +42 which isn't insanely high, considering there were a few people who went over +100 for their 3 games. These short patterns very commonly seem to work out like that.

AMF McRay - 11/17/19

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay and we had a huge turnout with 120 entries (73 qualifying and 47 economy parlays).  We had 31 cashers, a 1 in 3.87 cash ratio and paid out over $5,300.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on the 42ft PBA Scorpion oil pattern that played pretty tough for most of the day.  There were some higher scores but bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on the pattern.  The cut scores stayed around +60 for most of the day, which meant that you had to bowl about 10 pins over your average per game to qualify.

AMF Desert Hills - 10/20/19

Our event this weekend was at AMF Desert Hills unfortunately we had a low turnout due to other tournaments running this weekend.  We had 43 total entries with 26 qualifying entries and 17 economy parlay entries. We paid out just around $1,700.00 in main and side event prize funds for the event.  The players bowled on a very tough 38ft Los Angeles that had low for the day. For the most part, players were trying to play outside or the deep the middle of the lane keeping their angles fairly tight.  The key to this pattern was leaving makeable spares and then picking up your spares.

Glenfair Lanes - 9/15/19

Our event this weekend was at Glenfair Lanes and we unfortunately had one of the lowest turn outs  we hvae seen in a very long time. We had 46 total entries with 25 qualifying entries and 21 economy parly entries. We paid out just around $2,000.00 in main and side event prize fund for the event. We also saw Momma's Mystery hit for $500 by Jim Montgomery! Congrats to Jim! The players bowled on a the 47ft Eiffel Tower oil pattern that had pretty medium scores for the day. For the most part, players were in the middle of the lane or keeping thier angles fairly tight because of the longer oil pattern.

The quarter finals was on fresh as usual and the scoring was a little lower. After the 3 games were finished Carlos Vejar was the A division champion, Ron McDonald the B division champion and Willy Vuong the C diviosn champion. Willy would be looking for his first title in his 2nd title match while Ron and Carlos both have several titles looking to take down another one.

AMF Union Hills - 8/11/19

Our event this weekend was at AMF Union Hills and we had a nice turnout! We had 67 entries (20 parlay & 47 qualifying), 22 cashers, a 1 in 3.1 cash ratio and paid out over $2,000.00 in main and side event prize funds!  The players bowled on a 43ft Mexico City oil pattern that for the most part was low scoring on the fresh, but scores went up as the day went on. The bowlers that had success were able to play in the middle of the lane and keep their ball inside the ten board at the breakpoint.  If you got it too far outside, then the ball wouldn’t come back and leave you with a washout or split.  The average cut scores were all around the +40 to +50 range, which meant most players had to bowl above their average.

AMF McRay - 7/14/19

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay lanes and we had a HUGE turn out! In 3 squads we had 124 entries (51 parlay & 73 qualifying), 29 cashers, a 1 in 4.2 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund!  The players bowled on a 44ft London oil pattern that for the most part was pretty low scoring. There were a handful of players that really seemed to match up and bowl well on the longer oil pattern. The average cut scores were all around the +30 to +40 range which meant most players had to be close to their average or a few pins above it each game.

AMF McRay - 6/9/2019

The event today was at AMF McRay, we had 71 total entries with 41 qualifying and 30 economy parlay entries. The players bowled on the 38ft Winding Road oil pattern that yeilded medium to higher scores. The cut scores varied but averaged around +50 for the event, which meant it took bowlers bowling 10 pins over their average a game to make the cut.

We want to welcome Harold Smith and Geoff Garrow to the SFT AHT family! Thanks to you guys for coming out and trying out the event, we hope you had a good time in your first event!

The quarter finals were very low scoring, with one of the divisions taking minus to be the division champion! We had Bob Gazis coming out of the A division with +33, Kevin Dollar -3 in the C division and Dan Marks at +14. Which means the average leader actually bowled under their average to win their division.
