Desert Sky Results - 5/20/2012

This event was PACKED FULL of headlines, excitement, and a lot of FUN! The main headline was a text book rags to riches! Our tournament winner, Jesse Decker, paid for his bowling with a bag of change (photo below). He would later turn that bag of change in to $1,000! Jesse, you are lucky we didn't pay you back in change! We had another Parlay success story, with Jai Janoe. Jai showed the power of the parlay by winning his free entry with progressive pot, and then leading his average division to make the cut. Jai and Jesse are both great examples of how anything from a bag of change to $25 can put you in contention for $1,000! Congrats guys!

The other incredibly exciting part of this event was the final match of the tournament. Jesse Decker went heads up against our A division champion Brian Waugh. Brian was really the guy to beat in the A division all weekend. He was the highest qualifying A division bowler by nearly 100 pins, and led the A division in the quarter finals. Brian continued his success in the semi-finals against lefty Ron Gonzales beating him by 40 pins. Brian continued his dominance for most of the final match. He had no opens with only a few frames that he didn't strike in. Getting up in the 10th frame he only needed good count on his first ball. Throwing his urethane blue hammer, he only got 6 pins on his first ball, leaving a bucket. This meant that he needed at least three pins to not be shut out, and needed to make it to win. He missed just a little to the right only getting 2 pins and finishing the game with 221 with handicap. This meant that Jesse could now strike out in the 10th to win by 2 pins and win a match that at one point appeared out of reach. Jesse, a lefty, threw his first ball a little left of target but got back just enough to roll the 3 pin forward. The crowd went wild, and Jesse took advantage of the break by throwing a great 2nd shot for the double. Only needing 8 pins, Jesse kept the next one fairly online to get another strike and his first SFT AHT title! Congrats buddy! You can watch the exciting ending by clicking here.

It was another really fun and successful event at Brunswick Desert Sky Lanes. We had a total of 81 entries, with 23 prize winners, a 1 in 3.5 cut/cash ratio, while still paying out $1,000 for first place! We have averaged around 85 entries for our first 6 tournaments, a 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out over $25,000. This early success has been strictly because of the SFT families continued support and the word of mouth by each and every member to bring new members to the club. I want to thank all of you and let you know that this early success will not slow us down in continuing to better your tournament experience. We want to grow tournament bowling with each of you, for each of you.
