Mesa East Bowl

Mesa East Bowl - Standard

Our event this weekend at Mesa East Bowl was a two-squad standard, and sometimes that means less entries since there isn’t as many squads. Well it was jam packed with almost 50 bowlers per squad! We had a total of 93 entries (55 Qualifying & 28 Economy Parlay), 26 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a pattern we don’t use often that is a tough one to get used to. The PBA pattern Badger that is 52 foot in length. This is the longest oil pattern used in competitive play and “hooking” your ball into the pocket isn’t really an option at the beginning. You have to get used to your ball fading back high flush until they start to break down a little bit.

Our event this weekend was at Mesa East bowl which always has a great turn out! Their league bowlers always come out to bowl and take a stab at the prize fund. The last time we were there, a league bowler there won his first ever title. That bowler was Mike Metzler and he was looking to go back to back in his home center. He was matched againt 78 other entries aiming to take the title! Of the 79 total entries there were 23 cashers, a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and a payout of over $3,500.00 in main and side event prizefund. The players bowled on a 43ft PBA Chameleon oil pattern that started off playable and opened up more and more as the day went on. While the bowling center has the characteristic of creating some hook and some high scores, the pins however, really fly and it's very easy to have too much entry angle. The cut scores for the event were all in the +60's & 70's which means players had to bowl about 15 pins over average per game to advance.

Mesa East Bowl - 8/7/16

Well, this was a great event for one small reason. We ran on time for pretty much the whole event! This was our first three squad event that we put 2 hours between each squad and it helped tremendously! The number of bowlers that we are getting per squad now is too large to only leave an hour and a half between squads. The event this Sunday drew 102 entries in three squads, which were 59 qualifying entries and 43 economy parlay entries. There were also 26 prize winners, a 1 in 3.9 cash ratio and a payout of over $4,000.00. The players bowled on a 40ft Kegel Highway to Hell oil pattern which, as the name indicates, wasn't the easiest of patterns. There was plenty of hook, even for 40 feet, which meant players could play all over the lane from straight to inside, to really far left. However, this also meant that the pair to pair was very different since players were playing all over the place. Regardless of all of that, the key was being able to make your spares.

Mesa East Results - 4/17/16

Wow, what an event! For the first time ever, we almost averaged 50 bowlers per squad! Our highest two squad turn out ever with 88 total entries (57 qualifying entries and 31 economy parlay). The event also had 26 cashers a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a pretty tough 32ft Wolf oil pattern that had a lot of hook in the middle part of the lane. It made the middle part of the lane almost unplayable, but a few were able to make it work. We had an awesome turn out of new bowlers with 12 new bowlers bowling in this event. Four of them made the quarter finals (Scott Offenberg, Kayla Endicott, Cody Cowser & Samm Cosby), but we also want to welcome the others who didn't, Carl Ong, Don LaRue, Tim Walcott, Chase Nadeau, Michael Metzler, Michael Wood, and Maggie Martin. We hope all of you had a great time at your first event with us in your first event and look forward to seeing you at your next one!

Well our return to Mesa East Bowl was a very interesting one! We had a lot of exciting differences from the last time we were there and a few other similarities that were also exciting. The first awesome difference was the fact that there were more entries this time. We had 110 entries, 26 non-exempt cashers, a 1 in 4.2 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00!
