Bowlero Gilbert

Location:

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Gilbert and we had a medium turnout. We had a total of 65 entries (51 qualifying and 14 economy parlays) with 19 prize winners and a 1 in 3.42 cash ratio, paying out $2,995 in prize funds. The players bowled on the 38 ft Alcatraz that provided a lower-medium scoring pace throughout the event.

Kevin Duong hit the Momma’s Mystery Score with a score of 137 for $306!! Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Richard Perez!

There were 16 competitors who made it to the cashers round. Coming out of the A Division was Richard Perez who would move straight on to the finals by just a few pins over other players at +19. The B Division would see Justin Surat (+81) vs. James Roethle (+75). Their match would come down to the 10th frame, ending in a missed 7 pin by Roethle which would give Surat the win sitting on the bench, 219-211. The C Division would see Steven Situ bowl one of the largest sets of the month (+181!) to advance straight to the finals.

The finals would be a group of guys who were all looking for their first title. It would be a tight race to the finish line for the second straight week, with all the bowlers having a chance coming down the stretch. Justin would finish first, but come short of the double he needed to really apply any pressure. Because of that, the other bowlers needed to match what he did. Steven would go up and mark and get 9 pins on the fill which would slightly open the door for Richard. Needing 20 pins in the 10th frame for title number one, Richard would get 19, leaving Steven and Richard tied for 1st. By Strikeforce rule, we needed a 9th/10th frame rolloff to determine the winner. Steven would open the door big time with an open in the 9th frame, allowing Richard to have a little more breathing room heading into his 10th frame of the rolloff. Richard, now needing a mark and pins, went up and got 19 and would win the rolloff, 42-34.2 after handicap. The final scores were 223 (Perez) - 223 (Situ) - 217 (Surat). Richard, after many close calls, would come out on top and collect his first title along with the $835 prize!

Thank you to everyone that came out this weekend to bowl our tournament. We can’t run tournaments like these without you guys! Thanks to Jodi and the entire staff at Bowlero Gilbert for having us out this weekend. We are looking to hire a couple more check-in people to help run these tournaments.
