AMF McRay

AMF McRay - 6/25/2023

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay for another 2-squad tournament. This would be the last one of the 2023 Spring Quarterly Circuit (April to June) and we would have several bowlers vying for a place in the top 4 in quarterly points. We would see another good turnout with 108 total entries (82 qualifying and 26 economy parlays), 31 cashers and a 1 in 3.48 cash ratio, paying out over $7,500.00 in main and side event prize funds. The bowlers bowled on the new 2023 version of the 35ft PBA Cheetah oil pattern. The pattern was considered a short pattern at 35ft but had a lot more volume and forced a lot of bowlers from moving left as the carry down transition to moving right towards the gutter and slowing their ball speed down to get their ball to react correctly. The key for this weekend was trying to make high quality shots and pick up your spares.

AMF McRay - 2/19/2023

We would be at AMF McRay this weekend for another 2-squad standard event! With so many other tournaments going on throughout the Valley we were lucky to have 108 total entries (89 qualifying and 19 economy parlays). We would see 29 cashers with a 1 in 3.75 cash ratio and we would pay out over $7,600 in main and side event prize funds. The bowlers would play on a very tough 41ft Kegel Turnpike. The pattern is pretty flat for the first 20 feet of the lane with some shape in the middle, this would mean that you would have to play a pretty tight line and if you got the ball out too far outside, it wouldn’t come back. The key to this event was to leave makeable spares and string strikes when you could. The average cut score was around +40 to advance to the quarterfinals which meant that you had to get about 10 pins above your average per game.

AMF McRay - 7/24/2022

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay, and we would have a great turnout. We would have 141 total entries (95 qualifying and 46 economy parlays) with 37 cashers, a 1 in 3.91 cash ratio and paid out over $9,700.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the 40ft Kegel Highway to Hell oil pattern that played pretty tough for most of the day. There were some higher scores, but bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on this pattern. The key was to leave makeable spares and stay close to even for most of the games. The cut scores stayed around +30 for most of the day, which meant that you had to bowl about just a bit over your average each game to qualify.

AMF McRay - 5/1/22

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay lanes and had a pretty good turnout for our two-squad event considering that there were so many other tournaments going on this weekend.  We would see 124 total entries (84 qualifying and 40 economy parlays) with 32 total cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $7,900.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the very tough 41ft 2021 USBC Nationals Team oil pattern.  This pattern played a bit tricky with bowlers being able to play a variety of angles.  It seemed that the bowlers who were able to repeat their shots and leave makeable spares would see the most success.  The cut for the day would be around +45-50 so bowlers needed to shoot about 5-10 pins over their average per game to advance.

AMF McRay - 11/14/2021

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay lanes and had a pretty good turnout for a two-squad event considering that we didn’t start until over an hour later than schedule.  The center’s lane machine was having issues and we are thankful for everyone that stayed through the delay.  We had a total of with 82 entries for the event (49 qualifying and 33 economy parlays) and had 24 total cashers, a 1 in 3.41 cash ratio and paid out over $3,900.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the very tough 44ft PBA Carmen Salvino oil pattern.  The bowlers that were able to keep repeating their shot and leave makeable spares would see the most success.  If you missed just a bit inside or out, then you ended up with a split or a tough spare.  The pattern would be high scoring to start, but has the day went on it seemed that the lanes go tighter.
