Our event this weekend was at AMF Mesa and we had a lower turnout. We had a total of 46 entries (39 qualifying and 7 economy parlays) with 14 prize winners and a 1 out of 3.29 cash ratio, paying out $2,285 in prize funds. The players bowled on the 41’ 2016 Storm San Marino Open oil pattern. This oil pattern provided a medium to higher scoring pace, with it taking about +60 move on.
No one hit the Momma’s Mystery Pot so that money will roll over to our next event at Bowlero Gilbert. The winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Rick Mayber!
There were 12 competitors who made it to the cashers round, with two exemptions being used by Alex Olson and Chase Rohlik. Since there weren’t very many people remaining in each division, it would work out that the top bowlers in the A and C divisions after the casher’s round would move on straight to the finals, where the B division would take the top 2 bowlers. Coming out of the A Division would be Zach Van Dusen (+60). The B Division would have Seth Krich (+92) vs. Alex Olson (+45). Their match would be a wipeout as Seth would remain clean and easily take the win over Alex, 233-182. The top bowler in the C Division would be newcomer Rebel Gentry (+121).
In the finals, we would have 2 one-time titleists, Zach and Seth, while Rebel would be looking for his first title in his first ever event! The finals would start off close as no bowler really making too many mistakes or striking enough to take a noticeable lead. Half way through the match, Zach would have a couple of opens that would set him back slightly. Coming down to the final frames, Seth would have the slight advantage and he would mark in the tenth, which would be just enough to secure the title along with the top prize of $630. The final scores with handicap were 228 (Krich) - 222 (Gentry) - 203 (Van Dusen).
