Our event this weekend was at AMF Mesa and we had a medium to lower turnout. We had a total of 50 entries (36 qualifying and 14 economy parlays) with 14 prize winners and a 1 out of 3.57 cash ratio, paying out $2,270 in prize funds. The players bowled on the 46 ft ABT #7 oil pattern. This oil pattern provided a lower scoring pace at first, but proved to show some higher scores later on in the event.
Cody Gonzales hit the Momma’s Mystery Score for $500 with a score of 158. Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Carlos Vejar!
There were 10 competitors who made it to the cashers round, plus one exemption used by Chase Rohlik. Coming out of the A Division would be Ernie Mendoza (+58) and he would advance straight to the finals. The B Division would see Seth Krich (+111) vs. Jeff Kraus (+55). Seth would end up winning that match pretty handily, 258-204. Coming out of the C Division would be Tyler Higbee (+90) and he would move on straight to the finals.
In the finals, Ernie would be looking for his 6th title whereas Seth and Tyler would be hunting down title #2. Finals started off with an early blemish from Ernie with a missed single pin and a lot of strike from Tyler, which would give him the early lead scratch, plus he was getting the most pins. Unfortunately for Seth and Ernie, Tyler never really looked back, shooting 231 scratch to easily win his 2nd title along with the $650 top prize. The final scores were 270 (Higbee) - 223 (Krich) - 211 (Mendoza).
