Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler and we had a great turnout. We had a total of 79 entries (59 qualifying and 20 economy parlays) with 19 prize winners and a 1 out of 4.16 cash ratio, paying out $3,475 in prize funds. The players bowled on the 48 ft Shark oil pattern. This oil pattern provided a medium to high scoring pace throughout the event.
No one hit the Momma’s Mystery Score so that money will rollover to AMF Chandler. Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Dave Inoshita!
There were 14 competitors who made it to the cashers round, plus two exemptions used by Chase Rohlik and Alex Olson. Coming out of the A Division would be Chase Rohlik (+113) and he would advance straight to the finals. The B Division would see a 3 person title match with Curtis Spence (+116) vs. Alex Olson (+24) vs. Jack Haines (+10). Curtis would end up winning a nailbiter match, 216 (Spence) - 213 (Olson) - 191 (Haines). Coming out of the C Division would be Patrick Yarns (+133) and he would move on straight to the finals.
In the finals, Chase, the reigning player of the year, would be looking for title number 5 whereas Curtis and Patrick would be looking for their 1st title. Finals started off fairly even with no one taking any noticeable lead. Halfway through the match, Chase and Curtis started to strike a little more, however, 2 single pin misses from Chase late would prove crucial as Curtis just needed to keep it clean the last two frames. Curtis went up and did just that, holding off Chase a Patrick for his first title and the $1,000 top prize. The final scores were 228 (Spence) - 205 (Yarns) - 199 (Rohlik).
Thank you to everyone that came out this weekend to bowl our tournament. We can’t run tournaments like these without you guys! Thanks to the entire staff at AMF Chandler for having us out this weekend. As always, if you have any feedback, please let us know how we can further accommodate bowlers and improve our tournaments. We’ll be back in two weeks at AMF Mesa for another standard 2-squad event. Hope to see ya there!
