Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay and we had a good turnout. We had a total of 72 entries (43 qualifying and 29 economy parlays) with 16 prize winners and a 1 out of 4.50 cash ratio, paying out $2,530 in prize funds. The players bowled on the 35 ft Del Ballard oil pattern. This oil pattern provided a lower scoring pace throughout the event, but the few who found something were able to have some score.
Miles Austin broke a long dry spell by hitting the Momma’s Mystery Score with a 151 for $500!! Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Ernie Mendoza!
There were 10 competitors who made it to the cashers round, plus two exemptions used by Alex Olson and Chase Rohlik. Coming out of the A Division would be parlay winner Justin Penwell (+27) and he would advance straight to the finals. The B Division would see Jim Cote (+84) vs. James Smith Jr. (+51) and Jim would win that match, 191-180. Coming out of the C Division would be Jacob Vasquez (+31) and he would move on straight to the finals.
We would have a group of all non-winners in the finals, with someone looking to change that by the end of the day. Finals started off with a couple of blemishes from Justin, while Jim and Jacob were able to remain clean. However, as the game went on, Jacob would make a couple costly errors that would give Jim about a 20 pin lead going into the final frame. Jim would need a good count on the first shot to claim his first title and he went up there and got 9, good enough for his 1st title along with the $805 top prize. The final scores were 211 (Cote) - 195 (Penwell) - 189 (Vasquez).
