Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Via Linda and we had a medium turnout. We had a total of 57 entries (46 qualifying and 11 economy parlays) with 20 prize winners and a 1 in 2.85 cash ratio, paying out $2,640 in prize funds. The players bowled on the 43 ft Krypton oil pattern that provided a medium scoring pace throughout the event.
No one hit the Momma’s Mystery Score so that money will roll over to our next event. Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Eddie Lucas!
There were 16 competitors who made it to the cashers round. Coming out of the A Division would be Chase Rohlik, moving straight to the finals, shooting 590 (-10) in the cashers which was just enough to escape from that round. The B Division title match would see Jeff Kraus (+72) vs. Scott Sparks (+68) and their match would be a high scoring one that would come down to the tenth frame. Jeff needed a double in the final frame and he would step up, get the first hit, and come up just short on the second shot, allow Scott to sneak out of that match and move on to the finals, 247-234. Coming out of the C Division would be Tiffany Reese, shooting the largest set of the tournament, 753 (+153), versus Jonathan Garza, a newcomer who was not in progressive pot, who shot 680 (+80). Their match would also come down to the tenth, forcing Jonathan to get good count which he was able to do to earn his spot in the finals, 219-215
We would have a mix of people in the finals, with Jonathan looking to claim his first title, whereas Chase and Scott would be each be looking to claim title #3. The finals would start off with no one really taking any big lead. Later in the match, Chase and Scott would each have an open, giving Jonathan a slight lead heading into the final frames. Jonathan would do what he needed to do to win, claiming his first title (in only a couple events) along with the $420 top prize (was not in progressive pot)! The final scores were 202 (Garza) - 188 (Rohlik) - 178 (Sparks).
Thank you to everyone that came out this weekend to bowl our tournament. We can’t run tournaments like these without you guys! Thanks to the entire staff at Bowlero Via Linda for having us out this weekend. As always, if you have any feedback, please let us know how we can further accommodate bowlers and improve our tournaments. We’ll be back at Bowlero Kyrene in a couple weeks (12/14) for another standard 2-squad event. See ya there!
