Brunswick Mesa Results - 5/4/2014

Well this is going to be a long event summary! There were a lot of exciting matches, some great background stories as well as some very exciting achievements reached by the club this weekend. The event drew 125 entries, 32 cashers, a 1 in 3.9 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main side event prizes. The players bowled on the 40ft singles & doubles national's pattern this weekend which played very difficult on the fresh, but really opened up nicely as the day went on. The outside part of the lane was fairly off limits though. The inside part of the lane was very touchy on the fresh but, as the day went on some styles could really move left and open up the inside part of the lane. Most bowlers still couldn't throw it further right then 10 or 11 or it would stay right and never come back.

Brunswick Kyrene Results - 4/27/14

There is no doubt in my mind that we will never have as inspirational as a story that we had this weekend! The event drew 110 entries during a weekend full of other events, had 31 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prizes. The players bowled on a fairly open 37ft Brunswick Rhino oil pattern that played a lot like the PBA Cheetah oil pattern that we bowled on at Brunswick Kyrene before. There was a clear advantage for the players who naturally liked to play the lanes straight, especially the straighter lefties. Although there were some players that had incredibly high scores, the overall average cut score for the weekend wasn't very high at all. The average insurance cut in each division was around 680 - 700 with handicap. This means the players had to bowl approximately 10-20 pins overage average a game which wasn't too bad considering how high a handful of players scored.

AMF Union Hills Results - 4/13/14

We had another fun and exciting event at AMF Union Hills this weekend. As always the SFT AHT family found a way to set another record. It wasn't the entry count this time, but instead the number of new bowlers. The event drew 111 entries, 30 cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $4,100.00 for the entire event! The record was the 17 BRAND NEW bowlers that came out this weekend. I can't say that it has never been done because our first event ever was all new SFT AHT members since it was a new club. However, as we have grown our events have normally drawn 4-6 new members at each event. The fact that we had 17 at this one was absolutely incredible. It was due in large part to Bo Copeland doing promotions at the host center, and the rest of the SFT AHT members bringing in new people.

AMF Christown Results - 3/30/14

Well we have started off our 2014 season with some exciting new rule changes and it has gotten us 5 out of 5 2014 standard events with over 110 entries! AMF Christown had 114 entries, 31 cashers, a 1 in 3.67 cash ratio, and paid out nearly $5,000.00 in main and side event prizes. The players had a rude awakening on a 41ft Turn Pike pattern that isn't quite US Open but is pretty darn close with a 2.2 to 1 ratio. This means that the board with the most amount of oil on it has 2.2 times the amount of oil on it as the board with the least amount of oil. The common "house shot" used in leagues are anywhere from 7 to 1 all the way up to 13 to 1. The pattern this weekend was very difficult, and the scores reflected it.

AMF Tempe Village Results - 3/19/14

We had another great weekend of bowling at AMF Tempe Village this weekend. We got to experience the same great results that are making us so excited about the 2014 season. Another huge turn out, more new bowlers and fresh faces making the final match. I told this story often this weekend, and I have to tell it again. Our first ever SFT AHT event was at this same center nearly 2 years ago. We had a total of 60 entries for the entire event that weekend. Nearly two years later we had 143 entries, 35 cashers, a 1 in 4 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00! Through 4 events this season we are averaging over 130 entries per event! It wasn't long ago that that kind of turn out would be a record high! I can't thank the members enough for coming up with some great rule changes for this season, supporting the event no matter where we are at, and spreading the word for each and every event. You guys and gals are incredible! Now let's get to this event's results.

Brunswick Mesa Results - 2/23/14

Our 3rd standard event of the 2014 season was another great one. So far through 5 events this season, we have had champions with averages in the 170's, 180's, 190's, 200's and now after this weekends event, a champion with an average in the 210's. It's pretty safe to say that this season is going to be a great one where all skill levels can compete! The event this weekend drew 117 entries, had 31 cashers and a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio. The one thing that can't be said enough about this weekend's event was the scores! HOLY COW WERE THEY HIGH! We have had 2 300 games total in the 20 months of running SFT AHT's. In this event alone we had FOUR!!

Glenfair Lanes Results - 1/19/14

You are going to want to read this summary. The story that goes a long with this event’s winner is one that won’t happen for quite some time and one I won’t ever forget. It’s at the end of the summary, but it’s incredible. As always, we start off with our turn out and oil pattern recap. The event this weekend drew 117 entries over 6 squads, 33 cashers, a 1 in 3.9 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00! There were actually a few other tournaments going on this weekend that a few of our frequent members bowled, and even then there were 117 entries. I think this kind of turn out on the complete other side of town is a good sign that the 2014 additions voted in by the members are being received well by the bowling community. We look forward to seeing what kind of turn out we will get at our next standard event. However, that won’t be until after the SFT AHT family goes to VEGAS!!!! More info on that at the end of the summary!

Brunswick Kyrene Results - 1/5/14

Our 2014 season had somewhat of a dramatic build up. The members made some pretty big changes at the end of 2013 to create three divisions and open the club up to even more players. These big changes could have gone over with the bowlers in a variety of ways. However, after having our opening event in 2014 it’s safe to say that the members made some great changes that people are really looking forward to for the rest of the 2014 season. I say that because we passed our previous 6 squad tournament entry record by nearly 50%! The old record which was around 110 entries got blown out of the water with 153 entries this weekend at Brunswick Kyrene! There was definitely more lower average bowlers there due to having the additional lower averaged “C” division, and some higher averaged players there due to the higher averaged “A” division where players don’t have as much handicap.
