Glenfair Lanes Results - 07/13/14

Location:

Our event this weekend was at Glenfair Lanes. It drew 85 entries, 26 cashers, had a 1 in 3.2 cash ratio and paid out over $6,000.00 in main and side event prizes. The players bowled on a very demanding 42ft Kegel Autobahn oil pattern. However, it seems like most patterns play pretty tough at Glenfair. The players tend to have a hard time with pairs being different from one another. This meant you had to be on top of your game and make sure to throw good shots early in each game so you could make the correct adjustments in time.

As always we want to welcome some of the new bowlers that we met at this event. Paul Lyden, Jack Taylor, David Mortensen, Jason Ayers, Shawn Seng, Mitchell Barcus and Robin Briggs all joined us for their first ever SFT AHT event this weekend. I can’t thank all of you enough. It makes me very happy to still be getting 7 new bowlers at one event over 2 years after we started running these tournaments again. We hope the wave the club is riding never stops. Also congrats to Jack Taylor on showing that you can come in and have success right off of the bat! Jack made it to his first quarters in his first event and took home a $100 side pot!

We had some awesome accomplishments this weekend. First Momma’s Mystery Score had a pretty historic weekend being hit twice for a grand total of $1,000.00! The other entertaining part illustrated what is so great about momma’s mystery score. The two winning scores were nearly 100 pins a part. Chuck Lucas won $500 with a score of 146 and Jay White won $500 with a score of 241! Congrats guys!

Also, as always we had some parlay power players. However, this time both of our parlay power players made the title match! I’m pretty sure that has to be a first time! Susan O’Hara and Charlie Light were our Parlay Power players this weekend, and they made it all the way to the final match.

Now let’s get to the good stuff! The semi-final matches were interesting. The B division match wasn’t very close, Charlie Light defeated higher seeded Dylan Taylor. The A division match was won by Ben Spencer who was able to strike when he needed to keep Joe Mascio at a good distance at all times. The C division match was the closest one of the three. Phil Thompson had the lead for the majority of the match, but a late double by Susan O’Hara forced Phil to mark in the 10th frame. Phil’s first shot left the 3,6,10. He was only able to get two of the pins, which meant that Susan, who has proven to be very tough in match play, would move on to her second title match.

The final match wasn’t very exciting at all. Charlie Light started with the first three strikes and never really looked back. Neither Susan, nor Ben ever put pressure on him early and it allowed him to cruise pretty comfortable to his 3rd SFT AHT title. Charlie won our last standard event there during Memorial Day weekend which meant he went back to back at Glenfair lanes. If that isn’t impressive enough, he also did it out of the economy parlay. Charlie is now part of only a few people with 3 SFT AHT standard event titles. He is the only player with two major wins, as he won Memorial day in our very first season as well. To continue his accolades, he now adds the “$25 to $1000” to his resume and makes his title matches a clean 3 for 3 sweep. We are a ways from having a SFT AHT hall of fame, but when we do Charlie is already creating a pretty impressive resume.
