Bowlero Mesa - 3/23/25

Location:

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Mesa and we had the largest turnout of the season! We had 123 total entries (93 qualifying and 30 economy parlays) with 31 prize winners and a 1 in 3.97 cash ratio, paying out $5,285 in main prize funds. The players bowled on the 36ft Viper oil pattern that provided a medium-high scoring pace throughout qualifying, but would get a little harder later in the event.

Garret Strehl hit the momma’s mystery score for $500 with a score of 216! Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Michael Arce!

There were 26 competitors who made it to the cashers round. The A Division would see Brendan Bobersky (+142) emerge as the #1 seed and his opponents would be Carlos Vejar (+98) and Garrett Strehl (+85). The B Division would have Chris Tucker (+104) as the #1 seed, and he would take on Ian Silva (+50) and Micah Coleman (+43). The C Division would see Alex Olson (+123) as your #1 seed and his opponent would be Brody Miller (+80).

The A Division title had an unusual occurrence with Carlos Vejar leaving the center, essentially forfeiting his score in the match. The match ended up just being Brendan versus Garret, with Brendan having the lead over Garret and easily winning the match 194-148. The B Division would be a little all over the place, but Chris would end up winning the match with 226, with Ian and Micah shooting 196 and 155, respectively. The C Division semifinals was a tighter of a match, with both bowlers either striking or opening through most of the match. However, Alex clutched up in the 10th, striking when he needed a mark to capture the win over Brody, winning 203-188.

Going into the Finals, Chris would be looking to add a third title where the other two finalists would be looking for their first AHT SFT title along with the $1,300 first place prize.

The finals would be pretty close halfway through the match, with no one really taking a big lead. However, Alex would get a lucky string of strikes, which would separate him from the other two pretty quickly in the latter part of the match. Alex used that string of strikes to win his first title along with the $1,300 prize. Chris clutched up in the tenth frame, marking which was enough to edge out Brendan for second. Final score being 241 (Alex) - 207 (Chris) - 196 (Brendan).

Thank you to everyone that came out this weekend to bowl our tournament. We can’t run tournaments like these without you guys! Thanks to Kat and the entire staff at Bowlero Mesa for having us out this weekend and making this event run smoothly, even with having a large turnout. Also, thanks to Craig, Liz, Morgan, and our newest team member, Keith, for helping run the event. Our goal is to train a couple more check-in people to help me (Joshua Molloy) out so that Craig and Liz do not have to work the events in the future. If you are interested in helping out with future events, please click here to apply! As always, if you have any feedback, please let us know how we can further accommodate bowlers and improve our tournaments. We’ll be back in this Sunday for a 2-squad tournament at Bowlero Gilbert on Highway to Hell. See ya there!
