Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Via Linda and we had a small turnout due to other tournaments happening simultaneously. We had a total of 54 entries (40 qualifying and 14 economy parlays) with 16 prize winners and a 1 in 3.38 cash ratio, paying out $2,255 in prize funds. The players bowled on the 47ft Statue of Liberty oil pattern that provided a medium scoring pace throughout the event.
No one hit the Momma’s Mystery Score, so that money will roll over to our next event at AMF Mesa. Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was James Strang (2nd in a row)!
There were 14 competitors who made it to the cashers round. Coming out of the A Division was Jason Lowery, shooting (+137) in the cashers round, which for his case moved him straight into the finals since there were only 3 bowlers. The B Division would see a similar situation having only 5 bowlers and it would be Bobby Steele (+84) who would advance straight to the finals. The C Division title match would have Shannon Perkins (+91) versus newcomer Linda Skinder (+54). The match would be tight until the last couple frames, where Shannon would make some spares to secure the win, 205-175.
Going into the Finals, both Jason and Bobby would be looking for their second AHT SFT title whereas Shannon would have his first appearance in a finals, looking for his first win.
The finals would start off hot with all bowlers starting off with doubles. This match quickly turned into one of the higher scoring finals. Bobby would slow down a little, whereas Jason and Shannon just stayed in their groove. Going into the 10th frame, Shannon would need a double to shut out Jason for the win and would leave a 2-4-7 baby split, which he would convert and get good count. That would now flip the script and Jason would need a doble and five pins to claim the title. Jason stepped up and got the double and good count to secure his 2nd SFT AHT title along with the $515 top prize. Final scores were 261 (Lowery) - 255 (Perkins) - 237 (Steele).
Thank you to everyone that came out this weekend to bowl our tournament. We can’t run tournaments like these without you guys! Thanks to the entire staff at Bowlero Via Linda for having us out this weekend. We are looking to hire a couple more check-in people to help run these tournaments.
