Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Kyrene and we had a pretty large turnout! We had 102 total entries (78 qualifying and 24 economy parlays) with 27 prize winners and a 1 in 3.78 cash ratio, paying out $4,665 in main prize funds. The players bowled on the 42ft Autobahn oil pattern that provided a medium scoring pace, but would get a little harder later in the event.
No one hit the momma’s mystery score meaning that money will be rolled over to our next event! Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Calvin Ellis!
There were 22 competitors who made it to the cashers round. The A Division would see Josh Mabry (+90) emerge as the #1 seed and his opponent would be Garrett Plum (+71). The B Division would have Ken W Davis (+92) as the #1 seed, and he would take on Arthur Lara (+81). The C Division would see Micah Coleman (+86) as your #1 seed and his opponent would be Brennan Huus (+58).
The A Division title had Josh get off to a quick start, and he would never look back, winning 216-174. The B Division would be close, with two grinded games, but would see Arthur winning over Ken, 213-195. The C Division semifinals was a little higher scoring, and would favor Brennan over Micah, who doubled in the final frame to shutout Micah. Final score ended up being 254-244
Going into the Finals, all three finalists would be looking for their first AHT SFT title (2nd consecutive finals with this situation) along with the $1,200 first place prize.
The finals would be pretty close between Brennan and Arthur, with Mabry having a couple opens early that he could not overcome. Going into the 9th frame, the match would be dead even with both Brennan and Arthur working off of opens. Arthur would then open the door for Brennan as he would miss a 6-10 in the 9th. Arthur finished his tenth clean which would force 9 pins out of Brennan. Brennan then went up on the wrong lane and struck, but had to bowl again for score on the correct lane. He missed a little wide, but got lucky to get 9 which was just enough to win his first title along with the $1,200 prize. Final score being 216 (Brennan) - 215 (Arthur) - 175 (Josh).
Thank you to everyone that came out this weekend to bowl our tournament. We can’t run tournaments like these without you guys! Thanks to JJ and the entire staff at AMF McRay for having us out this weekend and making this event run smoothly. Also, thanks to Craig, Liz, and Morgan for helping run the event. Our goal is to train a couple more check-in people to help me (Joshua Molloy) out so that Craig and Liz do not have to work the events in the future. If you are interested in helping out with future events, please click here to apply! As always, if you have any feedback, please let us know how we can further accommodate bowlers and improve our tournaments. We’ll be back in two weeks for a 2-squad tournament at Bowlero Mesa on Viper. See ya there!
