AMF McRay Results - 6/8/14

Location:

We had our event this weekend at AMF McRay Plaza Lanes. The event drew 102 entries, 29 cashers, had a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out almost $5,000.00 in main and side event prizefund. The members bowled on the 35ft Kegel Boardwalk oil pattern which proved to be a pattern that quickly changed. Although there was a lot of hook when the lanes were fresh, they gradually got tighter and tighter down lane, meaning they hooked less and less as the day went on. This was a definately a pattern where certain styles did much better then others. The ideal style was straight. This allowed players to score high but it minimized the damage when the lanes starting changing quickly. Many times the straighter players would have a few spares when they got lost instead of a few splits.

We got to meet even more new members at this event, which is always exciting! Jay White, Carter Smith, Scott Roberts, Phil Mattison, Jose Rodriguez, Joel York, Ron Riley, Jeff Arreola, Kaylin Williams and Sandy Arreola were all welcomed to the SFT AHT family, and we hope they all had a good time in their first event with us! A special congrats to Kaylin Williams on making it to the quarter finals in her first event with us!

Also congrats to Agham Mejia, Scott Stanek, Larry Thompson, Kaylin Williams, and Jeff Lawson on making it to their first ever quarter finals this weekend. We also had a few Parlay Power Players that turned $25 into a quarter finals check. Those bowlers were Joe Mascio, Tom Large, Kevin Enomoto and Barry Gilitiuk Sr.! Great bowling to all of you this weekend!

The semi-final matches went as follows: A Division #1 seed Mike Morales vs #2 seed Kevin Enomoto, B Division #1 seed Agham Mejia vs #2 seed Billy Pretlove, and C Division #1 seed Tom Large vs #2 seed Jeff Lawson. The A division champion was Mike Morales by a pretty good margin. Mike had a huge 250+ game to defeat Kevin and make it to his first ever SFT AHT title match. The C division was also won by a decent margin with an open frame by Jeff in the 9th giving Tom the huge opening and the eventual win. The really tight match was between Agham Mejia and Billy Pretlove in the B division. It was like hot potatoe with both players missing numerous spares to continue to give the advantage back to their teammate. Agham was the last to do it, opening in the 10th frame to give Billy the opprotunity to only need a mark in the 10th to beat him. Unfortunately, it was still too tall of a task as Billy missed to the right, left a wash out and missed the spare to give Agham the win in a pretty crazy finish.

The final match wasn't too close. Mike who had the least amount of handicap started the match off with a missed single pin spare and no strings. Tom who got the most handicap started the match off hitting the pocket but left some 10 pins. Tom then had a hard time picking the ten pins up which allowed Agham to make up the pins he was spotting Tom. Agham did just that by starting the match with the front 4 strikes. The match never really got too much out of hand after that, with Agham winning the match by a decent margin. He had a pretty gutsy performance considering his really bad game in the prior match against Billy Pretlove. Agham ended up winning, taking home the big check, and getting his first ever SFT AHT title. Tom Large came in 2nd, and Mike Morales in 3rd. Check out the results below for full payouts and standings.

We are excited to continue our streak in 2014 of standard events with over 100 entries! We hopefully will be able to keep that streak alive though our next event in Laughlin at the Riverside Resort. Make sure to spread the word as we are hoping to have a great turn out at this event, as well as a lot of fun! You can click here for more info on Laughlin. Thanks to the SFT AHT family for another great weekend! We look forward to seeing many of you in Laughlin, but keep a look out for one more fun event and our mid-season meeting coming up in a couple of weeks!
