AMF Chandler - 2/2/2025

Location:

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler and we would have a great turnout. We had 93 total entries (72 qualifying and 21 economy parlays) with 25 prize winners and a 1 in 3.72 cash ratio, paying out over $5,000 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the 32ft PBA Wolf oil pattern that provided a medium scoring pace. It would take about +60 to qualify for the quarterfinals with bowlers needing to bowl 10-15 pins over their average per game to advance.

No one won the Momma’s Mystery Pot so that amount will carry over to our next event. Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Greggory Kellogg!

There were 21 competitors who made it to the cashers round. The A Division would see Kenny Koen (+50) emerge as the #1 seed and he would end up moving straight to the finals since there were only 5 total people in that division (meaning no semifinal match needed). The B Division would have Dave Kist (+118) as the #1 seed, and he would take on Jeff Kraus (+104) and Jack Haines (+70). The C Division #1 seed was Marcus Haley (+85) and he would meet up with against David Liang (+71)

The B Division semi-final match started off with Dave Kist having a sizeable lead over both Jeff and Jack. But half way through the match, Dave and Jack would both let off the gas and Jeff would end up striking from the 8th frame on to secure his spot in the Final Round. The C Division semi-final would feature a slightly lower scoring match that started off in Marcus’ favor. As the match went on, Marcus’ lead only grew and he found himself with a spot in the finals with a 215-178 win over David.

Going into the Final Round we would see Kenny and Jeff looking to take home their second AHT SFT title while Marcus was looking for his first, along with the $1,000.00 first place prize.

The Finals would be very close throughout the entire match with no clear person taking control over the match. It was very back and forth with minimum opens throughout the match. Staying clean on these types of patterns is necessary to have any sort of success and these bowlers demonstrated that perfectly. The match ended up coming down to the very last shot. Jeff, as the highest seed in this match, elected to start and finish first. Jeff finished his game off with 218, which was enough to shutout Marcus. However, 15 pins in the 10th frame for Kenny would be enough for him to win the title. Kenny got 9 on the first ball and spared it with no problem. Kenny then threw his fill ball and left a 2-4-8-10, getting 6 pins, which was just enough to escape with his 2nd AHT Strikeforce title and the $1,000 top prize

Thank you to everyone that came out this weekend to bowl our tournament. Thanks to staff at AMF Chandler for having us out this weekend. Also, thanks to Craig and Liz for running the event as well as improving the systems we use to help increase efficiency. We hope these process changes will help improve the bowler’s experience on and off the lanes. We’ll be back in two weeks for a 2-squad tournament at Bowlero Union Hills.
