Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler and we had a low turnout. We had a total of 38 entries (25 qualifying and 8 economy parlays) with 14 prize winners and a 1 in 2.36 cash ratio, paying out $1,560 in prize funds. The players bowled on the 37 ft Melbourne oil pattern that provided a higher scoring pace throughout the event.
No one hit the Momma’s Mystery Score so that money will roll over to our next event. Your winner of the drawing for the free plastic ball, with the option to upgrade to any high-performance Track ball for $99.00, was Ken Hall!
There were 11 competitors who made it to the cashers round and each division would advance one person straight to the finals since there were not enough players to have a semi final round (Division title matches). David Roppel would make it to the finals by striking the last 6 shots in his 3rd game of cashers to earn his spot at +124 . The B Division would see Justin Surat punch his ticket to the finals with +77. The C Division would see Darwin Hicks advance to the finals with the highest cashers round set of all bowlers with +133 .
We would have a mix of people in the finals, with Justin looking to claim his first title, whereas Darwin and David would be looking to add titles to their resúme. The finals would start off with Justin having a really rough start, which would give Darwin and David big early leads to start off the match. Halfway through the match, David would start to string some strikes together, however, Darwin would find a way to keep up with David, by only trailing by a couple pins scratch, which would give him a decent lead going into the tenth. David, looking to apply all the pressure, made a costly error by missing a makeable in the tenth, which would essentially give Darwin the title as well as $325 top prize! The final scores were 241 (Hicks) - 213 (Roppel) - 147 (Surat).
Thank you to everyone that came out this weekend to bowl our tournament. We can’t run tournaments like these without you guys! Thanks to the entire staff at AMF Chandler for having us out this weekend. As always, if you have any feedback, please let us know how we can further accommodate bowlers and improve our tournaments. We’ll be back at Bowlero Via Linda this weekend for another standard 2-squad event. See ya there!
