Bowlero Via Linda - 11/28/21

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Via Linda and we had a pretty good turnout!  We had 89 total entries (64 qualifying and 25 economy parlays), 27 total cashers, and a 1 in 3.29 cash ratio and paid out over $4,700.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Players bowled on the 48ft PBA Shark oil pattern.  This house is usually one of the higher scoring houses due to a lot of friction on the lanes and we did see some higher scoring as the day went on.  The thing with a longer oil pattern is that you tend to leave a lot of single pin spares as bowlers are not able to carry the pocket.  So, picking up spares was a key to doing well.

Mesa East Bowl - 11/20/2021

Our event this weekend was at Mesa East Bowl and we had a special early bird 2-squad event.  We had a really good turnout for our earlier squad times with 89 total entries (59 qualifying and 30 economy parlays).  We had 28 cashers, a 1 in 3.41 cash ratio and paid out over $5,200.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on the 38ft Alcatraz oil pattern that saw some higher scores on the fresh oil, but as the day went on the pattern would get tighter and tighter.  It was a medium pattern where bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on the pattern and those that could strike a couple of strikes here and there would do pretty good.  Our cut scores were all around the even mark with some even making with a slight negative score, which meant that if you just had to bowl close to your average to qualify.

AMF McRay - 11/14/2021

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay lanes and had a pretty good turnout for a two-squad event considering that we didn’t start until over an hour later than schedule.  The center’s lane machine was having issues and we are thankful for everyone that stayed through the delay.  We had a total of with 82 entries for the event (49 qualifying and 33 economy parlays) and had 24 total cashers, a 1 in 3.41 cash ratio and paid out over $3,900.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the very tough 44ft PBA Carmen Salvino oil pattern.  The bowlers that were able to keep repeating their shot and leave makeable spares would see the most success.  If you missed just a bit inside or out, then you ended up with a split or a tough spare.  The pattern would be high scoring to start, but has the day went on it seemed that the lanes go tighter.

AMF Chandler Lanes - 11/7/21

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler Lanes and we had a pretty good turnout!  We had 82 total entries (57 qualifying and 25 economy parlays), 24 total cashers, and a 1 in 3.41 cash ratio and paid out over $4,650.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Players bowled on the 45ft PBA Dragon oil pattern.  This house is usually one of the highest scoring houses due to a lot of friction on the lanes and we did see some higher scoring than in previous tournaments.  We had not one, but two 300 games and one 800 series this weekend.  Congrats to Maurice Sykes on shooting his very 1st 300 game with his newly drilled Trend 2.  Also, congrats to Hunter Mayes for shooting 300 and 800 series in our quarterfinals round.  Hunter’s 3-game series would be one of the highest scratch series we’ve seen as he was able to shoot 822 (279-300-243) using his Purple Hammer.

Bowlero Mesa - 10/24/21

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Mesa and we had a pretty good turnout considering that there were a couple of other events going on around the Valley.  We had 113 total entries (76 qualifying & 37 economy parlay) for 3 squads, with 29 prize winners and a 1 in 3.89 cash ratio.  We paid out over $6,200 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a the 39ft WTBA Seoul oil pattern which is a medium pattern that allowed bowlers to play from a variety of angles.  Scores were up and down all day as the pattern transitioned differently from pair to pair depending on how it was being broken down.  Some lanes you had to play deep, but others you had to straighten up your line to get the ball to enter the pocket correctly.  The bowlers that were able to figure out their pairs were able to stay out of trouble.  The average cut scores to the quarterfinals were about +30 which meant that you just had to get 5-10 pins over your average per game to advance to the Quarterfin

Mesa East Bowl - 10/16/21

Our event this weekend was at Mesa East Bowl for a 2-squad standard event.  We had a pretty good turnout considering other tournaments going on in the Valley!  We had 78 total entries (48 qualifying and 28 economy parlays) with a cash ratio of 1 in 3.61 and paying out over $3,900 in main and side event prize funds.  The bowlers played on a very difficult 37ft Kegel Radium oil pattern, that is a bit short and flat, which saw some pretty low-cut scores.  The average cut to make it to the quarterfinals was about even, which meant that you just had to get close to your average to move on.  While the bowling center has the characteristic of creating some hook and some high scores, the pins however, really fly and it's very easy to have too much entry angle and leave a lot of single pin spares.  So, picking up the spares would be key this weekend!

Bowlero Kyrene - 10/10/21

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Kyrene and it would kick off the start of the 2021 Fall Quarterly Circuit.  Our season points race, to determine our Player of the Year, is also broken into quarterly circuits with prizes awarded for the Top 4 bowlers in each quarter.  We had a lite turnout considering there were three other events going on throughout the Valley and especially with the AZ Cardinals starting off so hot this year.  We had 71 total entries (38 qualifying & 33 economy parlay) for 3 squads, with 21 prize winners and a 1 in 3.38 cash ratio.  We paid out over $3,600 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a pattern we don’t use often that is a tough one to get used to. The PBA pattern Badger that is 52 foot in length. This is the longest oil pattern used in competitive play and “hooking” your ball into the pocket isn’t really an option at the beginning.

Bowlero Glendale - 9/25/21

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Glendale.  This was our last tournament for the 2021 Summer Quarterly Circuit and we had a nice turnout for a two-squad event considering that we were bowling on a busy Saturday morning.  We had a total of with 69 entries for the event (43 qualifying and 26 economy parlays) and had 23 total cashers, a 1 in 3 cash ratio and paid out over $3,600.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on the 43ft PBA Earl Anthony oil pattern that was being used for the first time.  The pattern played a bit tricky with all bowlers being able to play a variety of angles.  It seemed that those that could stay clean and out of trouble were able to score higher.

AMF McRay - 9/19/2021

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay lanes and had a nice turnout for a two-squad event considering that there was scratch event going on at the same time and also the first Cardinals home game of the year.  We had a total of with 68 entries for the event (41 qualifying and 27 economy parlays) and had 22 total cashers, a 1 in 3.1 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on the very difficult Kegel 40ft Red Square oil pattern. This is Kegel’s version of the original U.S. Open pattern or the more commonly known PBA Bear oil pattern.  It is a very flat oil pattern that leaves practically no room for error and puts a premium on shot making and spare shooting. Since it’s not an extremely long or short oil pattern, players could play in many different places on the lane.

Bowlero Via Linda - 9/6/21

This weekend’s event was our 3-Day Labor Day Major at Bowlero Via Linda.  This is the first time that we have been to this center for a Major and we would see 254 total entries with 170 qualifying and 84 parlay entries this weekend.  We can’t thank the bowling community enough for all the help in making this such a successful event.  The event had 66 cashers, a 1 in 3.84 cash ratio and paid out over $18,500.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a 39ft Stars & Stripes oil pattern that proved to be playable but very tough if they were broken down wrong.  It seemed that some bowlers matched up well and others…not so well.  It would put a premium on avoiding splits and picking up spares.  The scores were pretty much on par with bowlers only needing to get 10 pins above average to make the cut.  The scores were a bit higher on Saturday and Sunday for the B Division, but it seemed that with each strip and re-oil, the pattern played truer and truer and got harde
