Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Kyrene we had a nice turnout considering there were three other events going on throughout the Valley.  We had 78 total entries (48 qualifying & 30 economy parlay) for 3 squads, with 24 prize winners and a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio.  We paid out over $4,300 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a pattern we don’t use often that is a tough one to get used to. The PBA pattern Badger that is 52 foot in length. This is the longest oil pattern used in competitive play and “hooking” your ball into the pocket isn’t really an option at the beginning. You have to get used to your ball fading back high flush until they start to break down a little bit.

Our event this weekend was at AMF Union Hills lanes. We had a total of 71 entries (48 qualifying - 23 economy parlay), 20 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out over $3,000 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a 38ft Alcatraz oil pattern that was very tough on the fresh, but quickly, and I mean quickly, opened up and yielded pretty high scores, but it was mainly for the styles that could get left, create steeper angles in the front part of the lane and use the friction in the middle of the lane to create some free hook. The scores were very low in the parlay, but by squad three they climbed up by more than 60 pins taking a cut score of +70 on average. 

Our first event of the 2019 season was this weekend at Brunswick Via Linda.  It was a standard three-squad event and had a pretty good turnout.  We had a total of 85 entries (55 Qualifying & 26 Economy Parlay), 25 cashers, with a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and paid out over $4,750.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a very tough 39ft Kegel Beijing oil pattern that had low cut scores for most of the day. Most divisions took in the +20 range to advance, which means that they only had to bowl 10-20 pins over average for the entire series, which is bowling a small amount over your average each game. The medium length pattern allowed players to play a variety of angles including down and in and deep inside angles, but if you got it a little too far outside, then your ball wouldn’t come back.

Our event this weekend was changed from AMF Peoria to Brunswick Via Linda on short notice.  We apologize to some of the bowlers that weren’t aware of the venue change, but we still did have a nice little turnout!  We had 71 total entries (53 qualifying & 18 economy parlay), with 22 cashers, a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and a payout of over $3,650.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a very difficult 40ft Bear oil pattern that had some of the lowest scores of the season. The pattern allowed players to play from any angle, but the key was trying to make high quality shots and then pick your spares.  There were quite a few people who thought that the scores would maybe go up for the last squad as the lanes would have some more play on them by then. However, this didn’t happen at all, as the cut score stayed pretty much the same in all three divisions from squad 1 to squad 3.
