Brunswick Desert Sky - 2/17/19

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Desert Sky lanes. It drew 81 entries (55 qualifying and 26 economy parlay), had a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out over $3,500.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on the 41ft WTBA Montreal Oil Pattern that seemed to be moderately difficult on the fresh, but as games were bowled it was pretty clear that they got very easy, at least for a sports pattern. It is rare to see sets that are +100 or more and we saw several today. It seemed to be most often from the bowlers that are able to open the lane up and curve it a bit more. The average cut scores were nearly +80 which required bowling bowling at least 20 pins over average per game.

Brunswick Mesa - 2/10/2019

We had a huge turnout today with 142 entries (88 qualifying entries and 54 economy parlay entries), a 1 in 4 cash ratio and paid out over $6,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a very tough 37ft Melbourne oil pattern that took an average cut score of +24 to advance to the quarter finals, which meant if you barely bowled your average each game you would still have made the cut! The players mainly played the outside part of the lane on the fresh, but as the day went on there were more players that were able to move to the inside part of the lane. Even in the later squads, the majority of players still played right of the 2nd arrow, but the scores didn’t really go up at all the last squad.

Brunswick Kyrene - 1/27/19

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Kyrene we had a nice turnout considering there were three other events going on throughout the Valley.  We had 78 total entries (48 qualifying & 30 economy parlay) for 3 squads, with 24 prize winners and a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio.  We paid out over $4,300 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a pattern we don’t use often that is a tough one to get used to. The PBA pattern Badger that is 52 foot in length. This is the longest oil pattern used in competitive play and “hooking” your ball into the pocket isn’t really an option at the beginning. You have to get used to your ball fading back high flush until they start to break down a little bit.

AMF Union Hills - 1/20/19

Our event this weekend was at AMF Union Hills lanes. We had a total of 71 entries (48 qualifying - 23 economy parlay), 20 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out over $3,000 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a 38ft Alcatraz oil pattern that was very tough on the fresh, but quickly, and I mean quickly, opened up and yeilded pretty high scores, but it was mainly for the styles that could get left, create steeper angles in the front part of the lane and use the friction in the middle of the lane to create some free hook. The scores were very low in the parlay, but by squad three they climbed up by more than 60 pins taking a cut score of +70 on average.

AMF Desert Hills - 1/13/19

Our event this weekend was at AMF Desert Hills and had another good turnout with all the other events going on around the Valley.  We had 67 total entries (49 qualifying & 18 economy parlay) for 3 squads, 24 prize winners and a 1 in 2.8 cash ratio which we paid out over $4,000 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the 43ft Dean Man’s Curve oil pattern that was a very difficult pattern to play. Players had trouble playing on the outside of the lane and there wasn’t a lot of margin of error when playing inside.  Pair to pair were big differences, but once the oil pattern started to break down in the 3rd squad, then scores started to go up!

Brunswick Via Linda - 1/6/19

Our first event of the 2019 season was this weekend at Brunswick Via Linda.  It was a standard three-squad event and had a pretty good turnout.  We had a total of 85 entries (55 Qualifying & 26 Economy Parlay), 25 cashers, with a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and paid out over $4,750.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a very tough 39ft Kegel Beijing oil pattern that had low cut scores for most of the day. Most divisions took in the +20 range to advance, which means that they only had to bowl 10-20 pins over average for the entire series, which is bowling a small amount over your average each game. The medium length pattern allowed players to play a variety of angles including down and in and deep inside angles, but if you got it a little too far outside, then your ball wouldn’t come back.

Brunswick Mesa - 12/9/18

Wow! What an event! What a conclusion to our 2018 season! Not only was it a huge turnout, but it had a lot of excitement as well! The event had 114 total entries (77 qualifying & 37 economy parlay), 31 cashers, a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and paid out over $6,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a 37ft Melbourne oil pattern that, as a short pattern, you would think would be high scoring, but it wasn’t that at all. The qualifying cut scores were all pretty low with it taking an average of +13 to advance to the quarter finals which isn’t even bowling average! It seemed that as the lanes started to carry down more, and the balls hooked less, it became spotty and difficult from pair to pair which really kept scoring low.

Brunswick Via Linda - 12/02/18

Our event this weekend was changed from AMF Peoria to Brunswick Via Linda on short notice.  We apologize to some of the bowlers that weren’t aware of the venue change, but we still did have a nice little turnout!  We had 71 total entries (53 qualifying & 18 economy parlay), with 22 cashers, a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and a payout of over $3,650.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a very difficult 40ft Bear oil pattern that had some of the lowest scores of the season. The pattern allowed players to play from any angle, but the key was trying to make high quality shots and then pick your spares.  There were quite a few people who thought that the scores would maybe go up for the last squad as the lanes would have some more play on them by then. However, this didn’t happen at all, as the cut score stayed pretty much the same in all three divisions from squad 1 to squad 3.

AMF Tempe Village - 11/25/18

Our event this weekend was at AMF Tempe Village and it was a BIG ONE! We had a whopping 114 entries through 3 squads, which consisted of 80 qualifying entries and 34 economy parlay entries. This created a huge payout of over $6,000.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a very tough 45ft Dragon oil pattern that forced most players to play the middle part of the lane. It was very difficult to play to the right unless you were pointing it right at the head pin. Most of the player’s that had success were in around the 3rd and 4th arrow. The cut scores for the weekend were around the +40 range which only requires bowling a little bit over average for the 3 game set.
