Our event this weekend was at AMF Mesa, and we had another good turnout for our 2-squad event! We would see 77 total entries (59 qualifying and 18 parlays), 25 cashers, 1 in 3.1 cash ratio and paid out over $3,900.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on a pattern we do not use often that is a tough one to get used to. The PBA pattern Badger that is 52 foot in length. This is the longest oil pattern used in competitive play and “hooking” your ball into the pocket is not really an option at the beginning. You have to get used to your ball fading back high flush until they start to break down a little bit.  The big difference throughout the day was spares and with so much oil on the lane it was hard to “hook” at spare attempts that you would normally be able to convert.

We kicked of the 2023 Fall Quarterly Circuit this weekend with a 2-squad tournament at Bowlero Christown! We would see a good turnout with 80 total entries (62 qualifying and 18 parlays), with 23 cashers and a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio. We would pay out over $4,200 in main event and side event prize funds. The bowlers played on the 35ft PBA Cheetah oil pattern that provided higher cut scores than usual. Cheetah tends to be one of the easiest sport patterns, as it allows players to get some free hook on the gutter which is similar to the house shot. However, it is still a sport pattern, and isn't a walk in the park.  There isn't a lot of oil in the middle of the lane, like a house shot, so you have to get it to the outside friction or the ball will run high in the pocket.

This weekend’s event was our 3-Day Labor Day Major at AMF McRay.  This is the first time that we have been to this center for a Major and we would see 222 total entries with 183 qualifying and 39 parlay entries this weekend.  We can’t thank the bowling community enough for all the help in making this such a successful event.  The event had 60 cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $17,500.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a 42ft Stars & Stripes oil pattern (2022 USBC Nationals Team pattern) that proved to be very playable but tough if they were broken down wrong.  It seemed that some bowlers matched up well and others not as well.  It would put a premium on avoiding splits and picking up spares.  The scores were pretty much on par with bowlers only needing to average about 10 pins above average per game to make the cut.  The scores were a bit higher on Saturday, but it seemed that with each strip and re-oil, the pattern would even out, with

We would see 106 total entries (84 qualifying and 22 parlays), 29 cashers, 1 in 3.65 cash ratio and paid out over $6,600.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on a 2023 42ft PBA Scorpion oil pattern that was new and had a lot more volume than everyone was expecting. Many of the bowlers would think that since there was more oil volume that it would play similar to a house shot, but with all the oil in the front of the lanes it made it very hard to swing the ball. If you got too wide with your angles too early, then it would not come back. We had straighter players do well to start but once the pattern started to breakdown, we would see players that like to curve it more and cover more boards, would find success.
