Bowlero Mesa - 11/1/20

Our event this weekend was a huge one!  We had 114 total entries with 78 qualifying entries and 36 economy parlay entries.  We paid out over $6,200 in main and side event prize funds!  The players bowled on a very touchy 44ft PBA Carmen Salvino oil pattern allowed bowlers to attack the pattern from multiple angles.  The bowlers that were able to keep repeating their shot and leave makeable spares would see the most success.  If you missed just a bit inside or out, then you ended up with a split or a tough spare.  The pattern would be high scoring as the day went on and bowlers were able to break it down enough to allow some miss room and scores would increase in the later squads.

AMF McRay - 10/25/20

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay and wow…what a turnout.  We drew 126 total entries (87 qualifying and 39 economy parlay), had 33 cashers, a 1 in 3.81 cash ratio and paid out over $6,500.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a 35ft Boardwalk oil pattern that played a bit harder than usual on the fresh.  This pattern can tend to be high scoring because it allows some miss room to the right if the bowler is able to get far enough to the right. Well, that did exist on some of the pairs, but other pairs didn’t have the same look.  The scores on the fresh pattern were a bit low but scoring exploded in the later squads with most bowlers shooting close to +70 to make the cut.

AMF Chandler - 10/11/20

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler Lanes and we had great turnout!  We had 101 total entries (77 qualifying and 24 economy parlay), 27 total cashers, and a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $5,600.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Players bowled on the Kegel 42ft Autobahn oil pattern. Most of the players played in the middle of the lane trying to push their ball out past the 2nd arrow and trying to blend out the pattern for higher scores.  This house typically has a lot of friction and we did some higher scoring than the previous tournaments.  Congrats to Eddie Thompson on shooting his very 1st 300 game with his newly drilled Track Proof Pearl.  Since Eddie used a Track bowling ball to shoot his honor score, he will receive a free Track bowling ball of his choice.  Thank you to Track bowling for the continued support and sponsorship of our tournament club.

Glenfair Lanes - 10/4/20

Our event this weekend was at Glenfair Lanes and it was our first event of our Fall Circuit.  We had a nice turnout with 79 total entries, with 58 qualifying entries and 21 economy parlay entries, and paying out over $4,000 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a very difficult 47ft Eiffel Tower pattern that forced players to play the lanes pretty straight due to a lack of friction which comes from such a long oil pattern. It seemed like players of all styles could find a line. If they were more speed dominant, they were right of the 3rd arrow pointing it at the pocket. As the player became more and more rev dominant, they would play the lanes further and further left, but still be aiming at the pocket.

Bowlero Kyrene - 9/27/20

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Kyrene and it was the final tournament for our Spring/Summer Circuit.  We did have a good turnout with 109 total entries (70 Qualifying & 39 Parlays), with 28 cashers, a 1 in 3.89 cash ratio and a paying out over $5,100.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a very difficult 41ft PBA Bear oil pattern that had some of the low scores on the fresh, but opened up for some higher scores in the later squad. The pattern allowed players to play from any angle, but the key was trying to make high quality shots and then being able to make your spares.  Bowlers that could avoid splits and leave makeable spares were successful.

Bowlero Via Linda - 9/13/20

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Via Linda and we had a nice turnout considering all the events going on this weekend.  We had a PBA regional, JBT and the CBE tournaments also going on, but we’re thankful for everyone that came out to support our 2 squad event.  We had 74 total entries (44 qualifying and 30 parlays), 20 cashers, 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $3,700.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on a 40ft Athens pattern that was very misleading.  Many of the bowlers would think they had it figured out and then the lanes would change quickly.  Because the pattern wasn't very long or very short, it allowed players to attack it from all angles.  We had straighter players do well and players that like to cover more boards and curve it more.  We saw some higher scores than the grind fest of last weekend’s major.

Bowlero Mesa - 9/7/20

This weekend’s event was our 3 day Labor Day Major.  We would get close to matching our record turnout for a Major, which was Memorial Day with 317 total entries with 226 qualifying entries, and we would get to 298 total entries with 211 qualifying entries.  I can’t believe with everything that is going on from concerns about COVID to other political issues, it was good to see everyone come out to compete and have a good time.  We were hopeful for a great of a turnout and we can’t thank the bowling community enough for all of the help in making this such a successful event.

AMF Tempe Village - 8/16/20

Our event this weekend was at AMF Tempe Village.  We had a great turnout with 101 total entries (66 qualifying and 35 economy parlay), with a cash ratio of 1 in 3.6, paying out over $4,500 in main and side event prizes.  The players bowled on the 42ft PBA Scorpion oil pattern that played pretty tough for most of the day.  There were some higher scores but bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on the pattern.  The cut scores stayed around +30 for most of the day, which meant that you had to bowl about 10 pins over your average per game to qualify.

Bowlero Kyrene - 8/2/20

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Kyrene and we had a nice turnout considering that we are in the middle of a pandemic.  It was great to see bowlers come out and compete again.  We had 82 total entries (53 main & 29 parlays) with a 3.28 cash ratio and we paid out over $3,100 in main & side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a squirrely 35ft PBA Cheetah pattern that played a bit longer than the previous versions that was laid out.  There was a difference in how to attack the pattern, but those that found success were able to play up the gutter and get their ball to roll correctly through the pins.  The average cut score was a bit higher, but with this shorter pattern scores are usually on the high side.

Bowlero Kyrene - 6/14/20

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Kyrene lanes!  We were wondering how the event would turnout with the current events going on, but our worries were quickly erased as we had an awesome turnout with 152 total entries (107 qualifying entries and 45 economy parlay), 41 cashers, and a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out a whopping $8,000.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the traditional version of the PBA Cheetah oil pattern that was 35ft in length.  The Cheetah pattern tends to be one of the higher scoring sport patterns, as it allows players to get some free hook on the gutter which is like a house shot. However, it is still a sport pattern, and isn't a walk in the park. There isn't a lot of oil in the middle of the lane, like a house shot, so players tend to play this pattern outside early to allow the ball to roll more vs. trying to hook the ball down lane.
