AMF Tempe Village - 1/17/21

Our event this weekend was at AMF Tempe Village and we had a great turnout with 122 entries (81 qualifying and 41 economy parlays).  We had 34 cashers, a 1 in 3.58 cash ratio and paid out over $8,400.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on the 45ft PBA Dragon oil pattern that played tough early on in the day, but scores would increase as the pattern broke down.  Bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on the pattern as long as they were able to get their ball to read the lane and not overhook.  The cut scores stayed around +70 for most of the day, which meant that you had to bowl about 15 pins over your average per game to qualify.

Cotton Bowl Lanes - 1/10/2021

This weekend’s event was at Cotton Bowl Lanes in Casa Grande for a 2-squad event and although the squads were limited, the interest was high. The event drew 65 total entries (58 qualifying and 7 economy parlay), had 22 cashers, a 1 in 2.95 cash ratio and paid out over $4,400.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a 42ft Autobahn and some higher scores were bowled throughout the 2 squads but if it was played on the outside the ball, the ball did not come back in. The average cut scores for the weekend were high with bowlers needing to bowl above their average for all three games to make the cut.

Bowlero Kyrene - 1/3/2021

We kicked off the 2021 season with our first event this weekend at Bowlero Kyrene and we had a great turnout with 135 entries (97 qualifying and 38 economy parlays).  We had 33 cashers, a 1 in 4.09 cash ratio and paid out over $7,725.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on the 41ft PBA Bear oil pattern that played pretty tricky for most of the day.  There were some higher scores, but bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on the pattern.  The cut scores stayed above +60 for most of the day, which meant that you had to bowl about 15-20 pins over your average per game to qualify.

Mesa East Bowl - 12/12/20

This weekend was our very final event of the 2020 season.  We had our Match Play Invitational at Mesa East Bowl.  The top 24 bowlers in total season points, except the Player of the Year, 2nd and 3rd place bowlers were invited to bowl this event.  These bowlers were all trying to win an event exemption for the upcoming 2021 season.  The winner of this event would win 2 exemptions and 2nd place would get 1 exemption for the upcoming season.

Bowlero Kyrene - 12/6/20

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Kyrene and we had a great turnout with 127 entries (85 qualifying and 42 economy parlays).  We had 31 cashers, a 1 in 3.96 cash ratio and paid out over $7,000.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on the 42ft PBA Scorpion oil pattern that played pretty tough for most of the day.  There were some higher scores but bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on the pattern.  The cut scores stayed around +60 for most of the day, which meant that you had to bowl about 10-15 pins over your average per game to qualify.

Mesa East Bowl - 11/29/20

This weekend’s event was at Mesa East Bowl and we had a huge turnout for our 2-squad event.  We had 59 bowlers just on the first squad alone.  In total we had 105 total entries (66 qualifying and 39 economy parlay), 32 cashers a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and paid out over $7,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The bowlers bowled on the 36ft PBA Viper oil pattern that was very difficult on the fresh, but seemed to breakdown a bit and allow for some higher scoring as the day went on. The cut for today stayed around +20 with bowlers just needing to hit their average to make the cut to the quarterfinals.

Bowlero Via Linda - 11/22/20

This weekend’s event was at Bowlero Via Linda for a 2 squad event and had a great turnout with all the other tournaments going on in the Valley this weekend.  The event drew 89 total entries (57 qualifying and 32 economy parlay), had 28 cashers, a 1 in 3.2 cash ratio and paid out over $5,300.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a 37ft Melbourne oil pattern that was higher scoring on the fresh pattern, but got a lot tighter as the day went on.  We haven’t bowled on this pattern before, but the key was to get your ball into a roll and play a little straighter along the track.  Those that could do that were able to take advantage of the pattern.  We would see Dylan Taylor shoot an impressive 299 game, just coming up a bit short of 300, but great bowling Dylan!!   The average cut scores for the weekend were medium with bowlers just needing to get their average for all three games to make the cut.

Bowlero Mesa - 11/1/20

Our event this weekend was a huge one!  We had 114 total entries with 78 qualifying entries and 36 economy parlay entries.  We paid out over $6,200 in main and side event prize funds!  The players bowled on a very touchy 44ft PBA Carmen Salvino oil pattern allowed bowlers to attack the pattern from multiple angles.  The bowlers that were able to keep repeating their shot and leave makeable spares would see the most success.  If you missed just a bit inside or out, then you ended up with a split or a tough spare.  The pattern would be high scoring as the day went on and bowlers were able to break it down enough to allow some miss room and scores would increase in the later squads.

AMF McRay - 10/25/20

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay and wow…what a turnout.  We drew 126 total entries (87 qualifying and 39 economy parlay), had 33 cashers, a 1 in 3.81 cash ratio and paid out over $6,500.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a 35ft Boardwalk oil pattern that played a bit harder than usual on the fresh.  This pattern can tend to be high scoring because it allows some miss room to the right if the bowler is able to get far enough to the right. Well, that did exist on some of the pairs, but other pairs didn’t have the same look.  The scores on the fresh pattern were a bit low but scoring exploded in the later squads with most bowlers shooting close to +70 to make the cut.

AMF Chandler - 10/11/20

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler Lanes and we had great turnout!  We had 101 total entries (77 qualifying and 24 economy parlay), 27 total cashers, and a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $5,600.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Players bowled on the Kegel 42ft Autobahn oil pattern. Most of the players played in the middle of the lane trying to push their ball out past the 2nd arrow and trying to blend out the pattern for higher scores.  This house typically has a lot of friction and we did some higher scoring than the previous tournaments.  Congrats to Eddie Thompson on shooting his very 1st 300 game with his newly drilled Track Proof Pearl.  Since Eddie used a Track bowling ball to shoot his honor score, he will receive a free Track bowling ball of his choice.  Thank you to Track bowling for the continued support and sponsorship of our tournament club.
