Bowlero Kyrene - 8/22/21

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Kyrene and it was our first tournament back after a two-week break.  We had a huge turnout with 161 entries (106 qualifying and 55 economy parlays) with 39 cashers, a 1 in 4.12 cash ratio and paid out over $9,000.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Our first squad of the day had a record 69 bowlers, which is amazing to see!  The players bowled on the 42ft PBA Scorpion oil pattern that played pretty tough for most of the day but the lanes would open up later in the day.  There were some higher scores but for most of the day bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on the pattern.  The cut scores stayed around +60 for most of the day, which meant that you had to bowl about 10-15 pins over your average per game to qualify.

Glenfair Lanes - 8/1/21

Our event this weekend was at Glenfair lanes and we had a pretty good turnout considering we haven’t been here in almost a year!  We had 92 total entries (62 qualifying and 30 economy parlays) with a cash ratio of 1 in 3.83 and paying out over $5,500 in main and side event prize funds.  The bowlers played on a very difficult 37ft Kegel Radium oil pattern, that is a bit short and flat, saw some pretty low-cut scores.  The average cut to make it to the quarterfinals was about even, which meant that you just had to get close to your average to move on.  Shorter patterns have always been very difficult at this bowling center. For whatever reason, regardless of the oil pattern, the gutters have always been a bit out of play and don't have a lot of reaction off of them. Because of this, shorter oil patterns are extremely difficult.  The key this weekend was definitely spares!

AMF Chandler Lanes - 7/25/21

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler lanes! We had a great turnout with 111 entries (66 qualifying entries and 45 economy parlay), 28 cashers, a 1 in 3.96 cash ratio and paid out over $5,700.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the old 35ft PBA Cheetah oil pattern that provided higher cut scores than usual. Cheetah tends to be one of the easiest sport patterns, as it allows players to get some free hook on the gutter which is similar to the house shot. However, it is still a sport pattern, and isn't a walk in the park.  There isn't a lot of oil in the middle of the lane, like a house shot, so you have to get it to the outside friction or the ball will run high in the pocket.

AMF Mesa - 7/18/21

Our event this weekend was at AMF Mesa lanes and we had a good turnout for our 2 squad event!  We kicked off the 2021 Summer circuit with 95 total entries (59 qualifying and 36 parlays), 25 cashers, and 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out over $4,400.00 in main and side event prize funds!  The players bowled on a 32ft PBA Wolf oil pattern that was very demanding.  The key for success was to make spares as most bowlers were able to advance to the quarterfinals by shooting their average.  This put a premium on spare shooting.  The oil pattern saw a lot of friction on the first squad and if you could just leave something makeable, then you were good.  As the day wore on, we saw the oil move from down the lanes due to all the urethane being used and scores increased for the second squad of the day.

Bowlero Via Linda - 6/27/21

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Via Linda and we had a huge turnout for our 2 squad event!  We would hit a record with our 1st squad almost capping out with 68 bowlers!  We had 119 total entries (77 qualifying and 42 parlays), 32 cashers, 1 in 3.75 cash ratio and paid out over $7,400.00 in main and side event prize funds!  The players bowled on a 38ft PBA Mike Aulby oil pattern that was very misleading.  Many of the bowlers would think that since there was more oil volume that it would play similar to a house shot, but with all the oil in the front of the lanes it made it very hard to swing the ball. Because the pattern wasn't very long or very short, it allowed players to attack it from all angles.  We had straighter players do well and once the pattern started to break down we would see players that like to cover more boards and curve it more find success.

AMF Peoria - 6/19/21

Our event this weekend was at AMF Peoria lanes for our first Saturday event in quite a while.  We had a really good turnout with 90 entries (60 qualifying and 30 economy parlay), which meant there was an average of 45 bowlers on each squad!!!  We would have 24 cashers a 1 in 3.75 cash ratio and a paid out of over $4,700.00 in main and side event prizes! The players bowled on the 45ft Mexico City oil pattern that proved to be very difficult on the fresh.  The pattern is longer, but flat which saw an out of bounds if you go your ball too far right too early.  The cut scores were pretty low being around +30, which means the players just had to bowl their average to advance. The pattern did allow for players to play a variety of angles and once the pattern started to break down in the later squad, you could see some bowlers open up the lane.  The main key for today was to repeat shots and pick up spares.  Those that had success were able to stay clean and avoid any ugly splits.

Bowlero Kyrene - 6/6/21

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Kyrene which always has a great turn out! We would see 133 total entries this weekend (89 qualifying and 44 economy parlays) with 37 cashers, a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and a payout of over $7,100.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on a 39ft PBA Chameleon oil pattern that played softer in this center compared to the last tournament that used this pattern at Mesa East Bowl.  The pattern started off playable and opened up more and more as the day went on.

Bowlero Glendale - 5/31/21

This weekend’s event was our 3-Day Memorial Day Major at Bowlero Glendale.  This is the first time that we have been to this center and we would see 284 total entries with 195 qualifying and 89 parlay entries this weekend.  It was good to see everyone come out to compete and have a good time.  We can’t thank the bowling community enough for all of the help in making this such a successful event.  We would draw entries from all over the Valley and state with some bowlers that even came down from Utah to bowl our event.

AMF Tempe Village - 5/16/21

This weekend’s event was at AMF Tempe Village and we had a good turnout for our 3-squad event.  We had 100 total entries (70 qualifying and 30 economy parlay), 28 cashers a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and paid out over $7,000.00 in main and side event prize funds. The bowlers bowled on the 36ft PBA Viper oil pattern that was very difficult on the fresh, but seemed to breakdown and allow for some higher scoring as the day went on. The cut went up as the day went on and bowlers would need to get to around +60 in order to advance to the quarterfinals.

Bowlero Mesa - 5/2/2021

This weekend’s event was at Bowlero Mesa and we had another great turnout!  We would see a record 72 bowlers on our very first squad and we would see 154 total entries (95 qualifying and 59 economy parlays), had 40 prize winners, a 1 in 3.82 cash ratio and paid out over $7,650.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a very tough 41ft Kegel Arsenic oil pattern that seemed to get harder as the day went on.  The key to this pattern was to leave makeable spares and try not to split or miss any spares.  Those that were able to pick up their spares and get near their average were able to advance to the quarterfinals.
