AMF Chandler - 6/16/18

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler lanes. The event drew 94 total entries (63 qualifying & 31 parlays), had 24 cashers, a 1 in 3.9 cash ratio and paid out over $4,400.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on the PBA 52ft Badger oil pattern that had matched up well with some bowlers to produce some very high scores on the fresh and then scoring increased on the next squad. Most players were playing straight at the headpin or just left of 3rd arrow and it seemed that the players that could control their ball speeds or had a higher rev rate faired the best throughout the day. It was a quirky pattern and was a change of pace for the regulars who haven’t bowled on a long pattern in a while.

Brunswick Via Linda - 6/10/2018

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Via Linda lanes. The event had a great turnout with 98 entries (68 qualifying entries and 30 economy parlay), 27 cashers and 1 in 3.4 cash ratio and paid out over $4,500.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a very easy 39ft Don Carter oil pattern that had some of the highest scores of the year. High scores normally create two things very exciting bowling because of the striking and also very frustrated competitors. Bowling extremely well, shooting high scores to only miss the cut is one of the most frustrating things a tournament bowler can experience and that definitely happened this week. The average cut scores for the weekend were +82, which may not sound that high, but there were certain players in the field that really matched up well and bowled some huge scores.

AMF Desert Hills - 6/3/18

This weekends event was at AMF Desert Hills. It has been awhile since we have had an event at this center. The event drew 80 total entries (55 qualifying and 25 economy parlay), had 24 cashers, a 1 in 3.4 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a 35ft boardwalk oil pattern that played a bit harder then usual. This pattern can tend to be high scoring, because it allows some miss room to the right if the player is able to get far enough to the right. That did exist on some of the pairs, but other pairs didn’t have it. It seems that the longer and longer that centers have these same lane beds, the topography across the house gets more and more different. This causes the differences from pair to pair to be larger.

Glenfair Lanes - 5/28/18

Our event this weekend was a big one! Such a big one that we broke just about every singe event record we had. We had a new entry record of 256 entries (194 qualifying & 62 economy parlay), 73 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out an all time high $11k+ main tournament prize fund and a new high of $7k in side event payouts for a grand total that got close to $20k in total payout. The players bowled on a very difficult 42ft Patriot oil pattern that was a custom pattern for the major event. It had pretty low scores the entire weekend, with players only needing to bowl average to make the cut. It was a longer oil pattern, but the lane surface itself had enough friction that it allowed them to not play too long. The players that seemed to match up the best seemed to hook it a little bit in the middle of the lane, but there were still some straighter players who were able to figure it out and make a run.

Brunswick Kyrene - 5/20/18

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Kyrene lanes. The event drew 117 total entries (74 qualifying & 43 parlays), had 34 cashers, a 1 in 3.4 cash ratio and paid out over $5,300.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a very tough PBA 47ft Scorpion oil pattern that had very low scoring on the fresh and then higher scoring on the later squads. It wasn’t possible for many players to successfully play right of the 7 or 8 boards.  Most players were left of the 2nd arrow and it seemed that the players that had softer ball speeds or higher rev rates faired the best throughout the day. It was definitely a tough pattern and was a change of pace for the regulars who haven’t bowled on a long pattern in quite a while.

AMF Deer Valley - 5/12/18

Our event this weekend was at AMF Deer Valley Lanes and we had good turnout with 86 total entries (59 qualifying and 27 economy parlay), 24 total cashers, a 1 in 3.4 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize funds.  Players bowled on the PBA 45ft Dick Webber oil pattern. Most of the players played in the middle of the lane trying to push their ball out past the 2nd arrow.  This house typically has a lot of friction and it didn't take the pattern very long to break down and forced players to move in further which led to high scores as the day went on.

Bowler Gilbert - 5/6/18

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Gilbert! It has been quite a while since we have had an event at this center and we were really excited to be back. A big thanks to Brian Jackson and his effort with getting us into this bowling center. The bowlers love this center! It’s really nice, has a very cool layout with 28 lanes on one side and 16 on the other side. It’s an upscale venue with delicious food and a huge arcade. You could tell the bowlers were excited to have the event there as we had a 100+ entry turn out with only two squads of bowling! We averaged over 50 bowlers per squad for both squads! A huge thanks to the SFT AHT family for supporting the event and showing Bowlero Gilbert why they should have us back again!

AMF McRay - 4/28/18

We had our event at AMF McRay this weekend and had a great turn out for a Saturday event! We had 107 total entries (73 qualifying entries & 34 economy parlay entries), 29 total cashers, a  1 in 3.68 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on the newest version of the PBA Cheetah oil pattern that is 33ft instead of the traditional 35ft length. It is also flatter than before and it showed in the scores. This was the first event in quite some time that had cut scores and parlay winners that were minus. That means you could bowl well below your average and still cash or advance! That doesn’t happen too often.

AMF Union Hills - 4/21/18

This weekend’s event was at AMF Union Hills lanes. There were a lot of other events going on around town, but we were happy to get a little over 50 total entries. The players bowled on the 43ft Mexico City oil pattern. It was slightly tougher oil pattern as bowlers are not used to playing straighter in the middle of the lane.  It was very difficult to score, on the fresh, as trying to hook the ball back from the outside was not ideal with longer oil patterns. The cut scores at this event were much higher in the A division then the other divisions, but the average cut score to advance was around +30 with divisional insurance, so the scoring was not too high. However, it seemed like each division had certain players who bowled really high and typically these were the players that were the most comfortable getting their ball to roll instead of hooking the ball in the middle of the lane.

Brunswick Tri-City - 4/15/2018

This weekend’s event was at Brunswick Tri City lanes. There were a lot of other events going on around town, but we were happy to get close to 70 total entries. The players bowled on the 36ft Johnny Petraglia oil pattern. It was an easy oil pattern as long as you could play the further outside part of the lane. It was very difficult to score well playing the middle of the lane, as it tends to be on shorter patterns. The cut scores at this event were much higher in the A division then the other divisions, but the average cut score to advance was around +60 with divisional insurance, so the scoring was to high. However, it seemed like each division had certain players who bowled really high and typically these were the players that were the most comfortable playing near or to the right of the first arrow.
