Bowlero Christown - 10/15/2023

We kicked of the 2023 Fall Quarterly Circuit this weekend with a 2-squad tournament at Bowlero Christown! We would see a good turnout with 80 total entries (62 qualifying and 18 parlays), with 23 cashers and a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio. We would pay out over $4,200 in main event and side event prize funds. The bowlers played on the 35ft PBA Cheetah oil pattern that provided higher cut scores than usual. Cheetah tends to be one of the easiest sport patterns, as it allows players to get some free hook on the gutter which is similar to the house shot. However, it is still a sport pattern, and isn't a walk in the park.  There isn't a lot of oil in the middle of the lane, like a house shot, so you have to get it to the outside friction or the ball will run high in the pocket.

AMF Chandler - 9/24/2023

Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler and this would be the last one of the 2023 Summer Quarterly Circuit (July to September) and we would have several bowlers vying for a place in the top 4 in quarterly points. We would see another good turnout with 105 total entries (79 qualifying and 26 economy parlays), 30 cashers and a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio, paying out over $6,300.00 in main and side event prize funds. The bowlers bowled on the 37ft Kegel Radium oil pattern. For whatever reason, regardless of the oil pattern, this center has always seen high scores at our tournaments. This pattern was considered a short pattern at 37ft but had a lot more volume and with the older lane surfaces at this center once the oil pattern broke down and saw some carry down from the urethane being used, then we would see a lot of big scores this weekend.

AMF McRay - 9/4/2023

This weekend’s event was our 3-Day Labor Day Major at AMF McRay.  This is the first time that we have been to this center for a Major and we would see 222 total entries with 183 qualifying and 39 parlay entries this weekend.  We can’t thank the bowling community enough for all the help in making this such a successful event.  The event had 60 cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $17,500.00 in main and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on a 42ft Stars & Stripes oil pattern (2022 USBC Nationals Team pattern) that proved to be very playable but tough if they were broken down wrong.  It seemed that some bowlers matched up well and others not as well.  It would put a premium on avoiding splits and picking up spares.  The scores were pretty much on par with bowlers only needing to average about 10 pins above average per game to make the cut.  The scores were a bit higher on Saturday, but it seemed that with each strip and re-oil, the pattern would even out, with

Let it Roll Bowl - 8/13/2023

This weekend we were back for another “Early Bird” 2-Squad tournament at Let it Roll Bowl. We would see a total of 83 entries (60 qualifying and 23 economy parlays), 2X cashers, a 1 in 3.19 cash ratio and paid out over $5,700.00 in main and side event prizefunds! The players bowled on the 41ft Kegel Helium oil pattern that played soft compared to other patterns that we have used in the past. The pattern would have a lot of volume in the middle but was a bit flat on the outside portions of the lane. We would see a few bowlers get lined up and shoot some higher scores. The cut this weekend was a lot higher than normal with bowlers needing to score about 20 to 30 pins over there average, per game, to advance.

Bowlero Via Linda - 7/30/2023

Our event this weekend was at Bowlero Via Linda, and we had a huge turnout for our 2-squad event! We would see 106 total entries (84 qualifying and 22 parlays), 29 cashers, 1 in 3.65 cash ratio and paid out over $6,600.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on a 2023 42ft PBA Scorpion oil pattern that was new and had a lot more volume than everyone was expecting. Many of the bowlers would think that since there was more oil volume that it would play similar to a house shot, but with all the oil in the front of the lanes it made it very hard to swing the ball. If you got too wide with your angles too early, then it would not come back. We had straighter players do well to start but once the pattern started to breakdown, we would see players that like to curve it more and cover more boards, would find success.

AMF Mesa - 7/16/2023

Our event this weekend was at AMF Mesa, and we had another good turnout for our 2-squad event! We would see 114 total entries (83 qualifying and 31 parlays), 32 cashers, 1 in 3.56 cash ratio and paid out over $7,100.00 in main and side event prize funds! The players bowled on the 40ft 2010 USBC Senior Master’s oil pattern that was very misleading. Many of the bowlers would think that since there was more oil volume that it would play like a house shot, but with all the oil on the outside of the lanes it made it very hard to swing the ball. Because the pattern was flat in the middle and heavy on the outside of the lane. Bowlers had to make their shots or the ball out sail or crossover on each shot if you missed in or a bit outside. The cut scores were low with bowlers only needing to bowl a little over their average to advance to the quarterfinal round. The main key was to leave makeable spares and pick them up.

Bowlero Mesa - 7/2/2023

This weekend we kicked off the 2023 Summer Quarterly Circuit (July - September) at Bowlero Mesa. With the long holiday weekend and all the other events going on this weekend we still had a good turnout. We would see 95 total entries (78 qualifying and 17 economy parlays) with 32 prize winners and a cash ratio of 1 in 4, which paid out over $6,000 in main and side event prize funds. The bowlers played on the 39ft PBA Chameleon oil pattern. The players bowled on a 39ft PBA Chameleon oil pattern that was very tricky, deceptive. Many of the bowlers would think that since there was more oil volume that it would play similar to a modified house shot, but with all the oil in the front and outside portion of the lanes it made it very hard to swing the ball. Because the pattern was not very long or very short, it allowed players to attack it from a variety of angles.

AMF McRay - 6/25/2023

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay for another 2-squad tournament. This would be the last one of the 2023 Spring Quarterly Circuit (April to June) and we would have several bowlers vying for a place in the top 4 in quarterly points. We would see another good turnout with 108 total entries (82 qualifying and 26 economy parlays), 31 cashers and a 1 in 3.48 cash ratio, paying out over $7,500.00 in main and side event prize funds. The bowlers bowled on the new 2023 version of the 35ft PBA Cheetah oil pattern. The pattern was considered a short pattern at 35ft but had a lot more volume and forced a lot of bowlers from moving left as the carry down transition to moving right towards the gutter and slowing their ball speed down to get their ball to react correctly. The key for this weekend was trying to make high quality shots and pick up your spares.

Bowlero Kyrene - 6/11/2023

This weekend we had a 3-squad standard tournament at Bowlero Mesa.  We had a huge turnout with 139 total entries (100 qualifying entries and 39 economy parlays entries).  We had 34 cashers, a 1 in 4.11 cash ratio and paid out over $8,300.00 in main event and side event prize funds.  The players bowled on the 48ft PBA Shark oil pattern that plays a bit differently as it is a long pattern in length but does not have a lot of volume in the middle.  This creates a bit of an odd transition as the lanes start to “dry out” in the front and middle parts of the lane which forces bowlers to move left (for righties) quickly.  However, with most patterns you can still get the ball out towards to outside part of the lane and hook it back but with this pattern if you get it too far outside too early it would hit the out of bounds and not come back.

Glenfair - 5/29/2023

This weekend’s event was our 3-Day Memorial Day Major at Glenfair Lanes. We would see 254 total entries (210 qualifying and 44 parlay entries) this weekend and we can’t thank the bowling community enough for all the help in making this such a successful event. The event had 70 cashers, a 1 in 4 cash ratio and paid out over $20,000.00 in main and side event prize funds. It was great to see everyone come out to compete and had a good time. We would draw entries from around the state to bowl our event. The players bowled on a 41ft Patriot (41ft PBA Bear) oil pattern that proved to be playable but very tough when moving pair to pair. There were some bowlers that seemed to match up well for a game or two but would get lost in transition and this would put a premium on spare shooting. Bowlers had to be able to leave makeable spares and try to repeat shots. The scores were on par with bowlers only needing to get slightly above average to make the cut.
