Via Linda Results - 5/9/15

We had our very first minor event on a Saturday at Brunswick Via Linda lanes. It was surprisingly a great turnout! We expected a lot of people to be working and/or have other obligations, but the turnout was still pretty good. The event drew 61 entries (40 qualifying entries & 21 economy parlay), had 13 cashers, a 1 in 4.6 cash ratio and paid out nearly $3,000.00 in main and side event prize fund! We are super excited to be able to generate these kinds of turn outs and pay outs on a weekly basis whether the event is on Saturday or Sunday. This event had a lot of other first also….

First we want to welcome our newest family members! Archie Temp, Kevin Narciso, and Anthony Allen participated in their very first SFT AHT event this weekend! We hope you all had a good time and we look forward to seeing you holding the big check one of these days! All too often people think it is very difficult to make it to the quarter finals through the economy parlay, but we have players do it at every single event on a regular basis. This event had 4 people win free entries through the parlay and then 3 of them ended up advancing to the quarter finals off those free entries! Congrats to Brian Cail, Jason Satterlee and Shane Valleau on turning a small $25 entry fee into big quarter finals checks!

Now let’s get to all of the exciting things that happened at this event! First were all of the ties! For  the first time ever, we had two players tie a last insurance spot and two ties for the senior/women’s division spot. At SFT AHT events, it’s all about the members, and so our rules for ties support that idea. If there is ever a tie for the last cashing spot, both players are awarded the prize. There are no tie-breakers, or base don high game etc. This meant that there were two more bowlers in the quarter finals! We had another tie in the quarter finals for the last spot in the B Div semi-finals. Shane Valleau and James Roethle tied and had to do a 9th and 10th frame roll off to determine who would bowl Ted McKay in the B division final match. It was a close one, but James Roethle pulled out the win by only a couple pins.

This meant our semi-final matches consisted of James and Ted for the B Division title, Ben Spencer and Charlie Price in the A division, and Brian Roever and Connie Albano in the C Division. The A division match was pretty close with Charlie just barely squeaking out the win against Ben by about 10 pins. The other two matches weren’t incredibly close with James and Brian winning pretty easily. This really set up for a final match of guys that were really on fire. Brian and James had both been bowling really well and Brian who just won his first SFT AHT title. Charlie is one of the hottest players this season, sitting in the top 3 in the player of the year race all season long, and looking to reclaim the top spot with a good finish at this event.

The final match was a pretty good one for the first half of the match, but then some good breaks fell James’s way to propel him into the lead and help him secure his second SFT AHT title. James ending up winning, with Brian Roever second and Charlie Price in third! Pretty crazy to think that James was so close to be kicked out, but won the roll off against Shane to give him the momentum to eventually win it all! Congrats guys! Great bowling!
