Glenfair Lanes Results - 10/12/14

Location:

We had a great weekend at Glenfair lanes to start off the 4th and final quarterly circuit. The event drew 116 entries, had 30 cashers, a 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out nearly $4,500.00 in main and side event prize fund. We are starting to see a huge increase in Economy Parlay entries every weekend. We will see if the trend continues but it seems that people are really starting to see the value in the side event and the potential of turning $25 into a $1,000.00. This weekend nearly half of the 116 entries were Economy Parlay entries. That is an outstanding number and we are glad that the new feature that didn’t exist in the previous SFT charter is starting to catch on.

We bowled on the 32ft Wolf pattern for the very first time and it was quite the experience for the bowlers! The scores were some of the lowest I have ever seen at one of the events. Most cut scores were players not even bowling average. The incredibly short pattern combined with the much worn surface at Glenfair lanes created a very difficult scoring environment. The average cut score for the weekend was around +30 or +40 which equates to bowling about 5-10 pins below average a game. This was definitely one of those weekends where you could make the quarter finals and have your average actually decrease.

As always we are very excited that we are still having new bowlers at every tournament! We would like to welcome Daniel Carabajal, Floyd Jones, Gene Badish, Renee Haney, and Dennis Krahn to the SFT AHT family! We hope you all had a good time in your first SFT AHT event and we look forward to seeing you at your next event!

We want to congratulate Mavis Fernandez, Micki Bushnell, Justin Elizalde, Bryan Van Sickle, and Tony Marin on advancing to their first ever quarter finals this weekend! We are always excited to see new faces having success at the SFT AHT events. 5 bowlers in their first ever quarter finals mean that nearly 1/4th of the quarter finalists were new bowlers having success! To make that event better, Mavis had her success all the way from the economy parlay! Also, she and Justin made it all the way to the semi-finals!

The semi-final matches were all run-aways with Joe Mascio, Zack Huglin and Bill Brackett winning by significant margins. This meant that all of them would be looking for their second SFT AHT title. This was the first time in some time that we had a final match that didn’t have a single person looking for their first title. Bill Brackett is a seasoned veteran that has decades of experience bowling in tournaments with money on the line, Joe Mascio is an experienced young player that is in the hunt for the player of the year, and Zack Huglin is also a young up and coming player that has really been working hard on his game.

It started off shaky, with no one really pulling away. Then a ball change by Zack, and a few strikes that were timed with some of his opponents opens gave him a pretty quick lead and an eventual victory for his 2nd title in less than a month! Congrats to him and the other finalist! We look forward to seeing you all at Brunswick Zone Mesa on Oct. 25th and 26th.
