Glenfair Lanes - 5/30/16

Location:

What a weekend! The support you all show to compete in our events shines through during events like this one. THANK YOU ALL for making this 3-day weekend action packed from the first squad to the final match. The event as a whole drew 228 total entries (166 Qualifying & 62 Economy Parlay), had 54 cashers, a 1 in 4.2 cash ratio and paid out over $11,000.00 in main and side event prizefund. The pattern that was put out was the USBC Nationals Singles & Doubles pattern and it was challenging to say the least, although the most difficult was on fresh conditions. Out of bounds towards the gutters, with jumpy back ends required smooth rolling bowling balls that didnt want to over react on the backend. As the oil pattern broke down and "opened up," it allowed bowlers to move left and keep their breakpoints around 9-10 board.

We want to welcome all of the new bowlers to the SFT AHT family that joined us for this event as their very first SFT AHT event! We want to welcome Eric Barnick, Robert Bowman, John Bryan, Rick Crayton, Arica Jackson, David Krol, Angelo Motta, Travis Powell, Anthony Rodrigez, Wayna Swayda, Jay Tom, and Anthony Young to the every growing SFT AHT family! The majors always bring a lot of new bowlers and we were excited to seem some of them have some big success in their first event. There were several that made the quarter finals and David Krol did the best of the new members making it all the way to the semi's!

Projected cut scores started low during squads 1&2 each day ending around +20 to +40 and climed slightly as more play on the lanes continued. With the most bowlers competing on Monday, that day provided us with our highest cut scores of the three days and huge brackets & sidepots! After re-oil for the quarter finals, 18 bowlers in each division began the grind again to advance to the semi final round. The 18 in each division would be cut to the top 6 in each division. Those 6 would be broken up into groups of 3 for one game matches with the high player coming off each pair. Lots of tight matches that came down to the final frames brought it down to #1 Seed Melanie Seigel and #2 Seed Sean Trzaskowski battling for C division title, #6 Seed Damon Larue and # 3 seed Joey Burruel for B division title, and #5 seed Jeff Row and #4 seed Chase Nadeau for A division title. While each division had 6 in it, it's crazy that there were no duplicate seeds to advance from each division. For example, the #1 seed in A and B both didn't advance etc. We had exactly one #1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 seeds in the final round of matches. Again, in a uniform manner, every single higher seed in the final matches became the division champoins. Which means based on the quarter finals pinfall our final match consisted of a #1 seed Melanie Siegel (C Division), a #3 seed Joey Burrell (B Division), and a #4 seed Chase Nadeau (A Division).

We use different finals formats for our majors. For Memorial Day weekend, we use an eliminator format. This means the three players bowl one game, with the low player dropping out, and then the final two players bowl one more game to determine the champion. The first match had Melanie Siegel falling out with a low score of 178 with handicap. The final match started off close, but had Joey Burrell push out to a lead and time home the victory 221 to 174 with handicap. The final match was a good one, but when it was all said and done long time member Joey Burrel got his first SFT AHT title in a grand way! Defeating over 200 other entrants and taking home the big check! A big congratulations goes out to Joey Burruel on winning the $1,500 grand prize, Chase Nadeau for 2nd and $800 and Melanie Seigel for 3rd and $400! When it was all said and done, we were able to pay out over $10,000 in prize fund and progressive pots, $1,500 in high game pots, $1,200 in sweeper and $860 in mammas mystery score! WOW! What an event! All the things goes to our amazing members and supporters!
