Glenfair Lanes - 10/7/17

Location:

Our event this weekend was at Glenfair Lanes. It was a last minute day change from Sunday to Saturday to avoid bumping up right with another tournament that was in the center the same day. The fact that it was a Saturday and the short notice change reduced the entries a bit, but we still had a good time and did some bowling. The event had 64 total entries (44 qualifying - 23 economy parlay) had 20 cashers, a 1 in 3.2 cash ratio and paid out just under $3,000.00. The players bowled on the 41ft Rome oil pattern which played very difficult. Most players either played further inside or no further outside then 10 or 12 board. The cut scores all day long normally only required players to bowl average or slightly below.

We want to welcome Nicole Monday to the SFT AHT family as a new bowler and also congratulate Chad Clapp on being our only parlay power player this weekend, taking his winning Economy Parlay spot all the way to the quarter finals and even further, all the way to the final match! Congrats to him for doing that and thanks to Nicole for coming out and joining us for her first event!

The quarter finals were fairly low scoring with most leaders bowling a bit over average, except for Eric Flick who made a ball change to urethane the last game and bowled a huge 269 to bowl the highest series of the day at +138. He was the A division champion, and he would take on Brian Roever as the B division champion who bowled +76 and Chad Clapp, the C division champion who bowled +15. This was the first title match in quite a long time where all three players had a SFT AHT title.

The final match started off some what close, but it will clear that after Eric had switched to his urethane ball, he really was able to get in a groove. Not only was he striking and keeping the balls in the pocket, but when he missed and left a 2-7 split he was able to convert that also. He ended taking a sizeable lead and would win his second SFT AHT title with a score of 222 with handicap. Brian opened in the 10th, but still had enough of lead to finish in second which left Chad in 3rd.

Thanks to everyone for coming out today and thanks to those who helped spread the word on the day change. We look forward to seeing you at our tournament partners event, bowl for the cure, or are next event at Mesa East Bowl next Sunday!
