Flipside Results - 12/6/15

It's hard to believe, but it was our final event of the 2015 season! It definitely didn't disappoint! We crowned tournament champions, season champions and saw exciting finishes. The players bowled on the 39ft Winding Road oil pattern that really allowed people to play a variety of places on the lane. The straighter players seemed to struggle a bit more, but there were some that still made it to the quarter finals. It appeared the best line was a small belly in the 15 to 8 range.
The event drew 46 entries (34 qualifying 12 economy parlay), had 14 cashers, a 1 in 3.2 cash ratio and paid out over $2,000.00. We had some brand new bowlers come and join us. We want to welcome Correen Lieber to the SFT AHT family, and also congratulate her on making it to the quarter finals in her first event. She didn't do well in the economy parlay, but she didn't let that get her down. She gave it another shot on the 1pm squad and made the cut! Also a special congrats to Logan Spencer for being our only parlay power player at this weekends event.

The first exciting thing that happened at this event was our very long and vigorous 2015 player of the year race coming to an end. After leading most of the season, Jason Satterlee was surpassed by Ron Gonzales after Ron was very clutch in winning our final $1,000.00 event. It still wasn't over yet, as Ron had to make the quarter finals in our final event to lock it up and shut Jason out. He came out of the game in the very first squad with a huge +143 to pretty much lock up player of the year honors. What makes this win so impressive, is that Ron drives from Tucson for all of our events, which is very impressive considering we had a 50+ event season. Not to mention that Ron never really had the lead through out the entire season until the last few events.

The second impressive event, was our Rookie player of the year coming down to the final frame of 50+ events. Logan Spencer came into the event needing a 1st place finish, and nothing less to capture Rookie of the year honors from Carlos Guzman by 20 points. He made the final match, and it was an exciting one. He started off pretty poorly opening nearly all o his first 4 frames. He then through a double, a spare, and another double. He got up in the 10th frame with the chance to throw the first two strikes two win his second SFT AHT title, rookie player of the year, $600, and be only our 3rd player in 2015 to turn $25 into $600. He got up and threw two great shots in the tenth to show the most rewarding part of tournament play. Getting up under pressure, with a lot on the line, and performing perfectly! Congrats to Logan on an incredibly comeback! Also, congrats to Ron Gonzales on 2nd and a very impressive year, and also to Sean Ashley on finishing 3rd.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our next fun event next Sunday, before our year end meeting. Thanks to everyone for the incredible season, and now well forward to our amazing season ending events for our members. The meeting, the match play invitational and the banquet. See you all there!
