Camp Verde Results - 5/3/15

Our events at Cliff Castle Casino were a bunch of fun as expected! The main event drew 44 entries, had 12 cashers had a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and paid out over $2,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. Our criss cross doubles event drew 13 teams which was smaller than usual, but was expected due to conflicting with the Manny/Mayweather fight. We want to thank all of our great members that made the drive to support the event and we look forward to our next out of town event.

We do want to welcome Wes Queen who joined us for his first event this weekend, and also congratulate our economy parlay power players, Sean Ashley and Dylan Taylor. This keeps our streak alive of having a new bowler and a parlay power player at ever single event for quite some time. These are two elements that we love to see at the events.

Our criss cross doubles champs were Howard and Shawna Strause. They not only won the event but also won the high mixed team bounty for $100. Howard Strause was coming off a very impressive win at the 20 gamer. Not only did he a few years on the competition, which is very relevant when having to bowl 20 games in a day, but he also beat the field scratch! We want to wish him a big congrats on that impressive win, and a congrats to him and his lovely wife Shawna on their win in the criss cross doubles!

Our three main finalists in the Camp Verde Championship were Dylan Taylor in the A division, Billy Pretlove in the B Division and Robert Ervin in the C division. Dylan was looking for his 3rd title, Billy his 2nd, and Robert his 1st. This year has had a lot of first time winners, so Robert was favored if that streak was kept alive, however Dylan had been on fire all weekend throwing it hard up the gutter. He bowled a nice 764 scratch in the quarter finals round to advance as the A division champion. Billy also bowled well with a nice 738 with handicap. It definitely seemed like the final match could go to any of them.
The match started off very closely as expected. Dylan Taylor had the front 5 strikes, a 9 spare, and another strike. However, he was spotting Billy 27 and Robert 36. Billy had two doubles, a spare and an open and Robert had one double, all spares and an open. It was exciting going into the final 3 frames of the match. Dylan struck in the 9th but didn’t in the 10th which gave Billy the opportunity to strike out in the 10th to win the match. Billy threw a great shot but left a pocket 7-10 which gave Dylan his 2nd SFT AHT title and the crown as our Campe Verde Champion! The true irony of the finish was in Dylan’s very last title match he had a chance to strike to win and pocket 8-10’d to lose his match. Now, at Billy’s expense Dylan has gotten even with the bowling gods, and earned $600 in the process! Congrats to everyone that made the quarters and our finalists!

Don’t forget that our event next weekend is on Saturday only! It is a minor event, and will have our usual 1 day format, but will be on Saturday only! That is on May 9th at Brunswick Via Linda Lanes! See you all there!
Final Match:

SFT AHT Minor - Shake, Rattle & Bowl
