Brunswick Tri-City Results - 10/27/2013

This weekend we were at Brunswick Tri-City bowl in Avondale, Arizona. The location didn’t stop the members from showing their unbelievable support! We had 82 entries, 22 cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio, and paid out over $4,000.00 in total prizes. The bowlers bowled on the 39ft USBC National’s pattern, which had pretty high scores all weekend. There were multiple scores over +100 which is uncommon for most SFT AHT events. The pattern seem to mainly yield high scores to those that could open their angles up in the front part of the lane and also the left handers seemed to have pretty good ball reaction.

We would like to welcome a number of new members from this event. Raymond Johnson, Maggie Taylor, Miguel Garcia, Patrick McCormack, Evet Moncayo, Roger Moncayo, and Ryan Deniger welcome to the SFT AHT family! I hope you all had a good time and we look forward to seeing you at your next SFT AHT event. Congrats to Aaron Mendoza, Miguel Garcia and Pat McCormack on advancing to their first ever quarter finals this weekend! Also congrats to Ernie Mendoza, Aaron Mendoza, and Robert Bautista for being Parlay Power Players and advancing to the quarter finals through the economy parlay!

The division semi-final matches were both very high scoring. In the A division Derek Acuff defeated Ben Spencer, and Shane Valleau with a 277 game with handicap to be the A division champion. The B division semi’s were between Chris Huglin, Ben Dewberry, and Ron Gonzales. Ron Gonzales ended up defeating both of them for the B division title. This meant we would have an ALL LEFTY final match! It would prove to be an exciting match.

Both Derek and Ron were on striking sprees going into the match and they didn’t slow down in the least bit. Derek had his small hiccup in the beginning of the game with a couple of spares and Ron’s were early as well but weren’t back to back. Both players were heading into the 10th frame on 4 baggers and Derek was the first person to finish both frames. He had the lead in hand and could shut Ron out with 2 strikes in the 10th frame. He got the 1st one but was unable to get the 2nd. Derek’s strike, nine, spare in the 10th frame meant that Ron could get up in the 10th and throw all three to tie Derek and move into a roll off. Ron’s first shot was just a little high and left an 8 pin, which meant Derek won the match 282 to 263 with handicap. Congrats guys!

Our next event will be at AMF Christown Lanes on November 9th and 10th. We will be featuring all of the great features of our $1,000.00 standard events. See you all there!
