Brunswick Tri-City - 8/6/17

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Tri-City lanes and had a great turn out considering there were 3 other tournaments going on the same day. We had 89 total entries (69 qualifying & 30 economy parlay) for 3 squads, 25 prize winners and a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio. The players bowled on the 43ft Brunswick Phantom oil pattern that was another very low scoring event. Players could play in just about any part of the lane, but there wasn’t a lot of margin of error and the pair to pair differences were also tough.

We want to welcome Daniel Black, Marve Burrell, David Figueroa, Patrick Epstein, Sammi Hernriech,  and Lucinda Black to the SFT AHT family! We hope you guys all had a good time in your first SFT AHT event. Congrats to Marve on winning the economy parlay as a one of the new bowlers. Congrats to Renee Sandoval, Nate Moser, Ron Gonzales, and Brooke Carroll on being this weekend’s parlay power players! Nate took it the furthest turning his $25 into a $160 semi-final check. Even better, since we have a smart account, Nate will get all of his winnings as scholarship. Also congrats to Nate, Austin Sherman, and James Roethle Sr.on making it to their first ever SFT AHT quarter finals at this event!

The quarter finals were on fresh conditions and it the scores were pretty low with the average cut score to make the next round being almost minus. The A division had #1 seed Jonathan Ferrell taking on #2 seed Eric Flick, B division was #1 seed Leon Sabelka taking on Sean Trzaskowski, and C division #1 seed Nate Moser vs #2 seed Austin Sherman. The A division match started off rocky with both players not bowling very well, but Jonathan eventually figured it out and made some clutch shots at the end to string some strikes and defeat Eric Flick. B division had a back and forth, but some late open frames by Leon allowed Sean to squeak through. The C division Nate Moser, who had been on fire all day, ran into a big game with Austin bowling a nice 248 with handicap.

The final match was very back and forth with all of the players being in the mix for the majority of the game. However, some late opens by Austin put in the most behind, but still in the match. Sean was able to double in the 7th and 8th to take a slight lead, but still didn’t shut his opponents out after finishing his game. Jonathan could have struck out to win, but wasn’t able to leaving him in 2nd place, Austin in 3rd and Sean the tournament champion, taking home his first ever SFT AHT title and $700.00. Congrats guys!

Thanks to everyone that came out! We look forward to seeing you all at our event next weekend at AMF Chandler lanes.
