Brunswick Mesa - 6/14/15

This event was our very first one day standard event. It was very exciting to see how it would go, and it was a big success with the event drawing 91 entries (68 qualifying entries & 23 economy parlay entries), 20 cashers, a 1 in 4.5 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prizefunds in only 3 squads of bowling! Those are some pretty impressive stats for a tournament in the middle of the summer! I hate to continue to brag about our members, but this was yet another change they initiated at our mid-season meeting that seems to be a hit so far! Thanks again to everyone that shows up to the meeting and helps this club continue to improve!

The players bowled on the 35ft WTBA Bejiing oil pattern that really had some severe ups and downs. On some squads for some bowlers, the pattern was completely impossible as they saw their ball over hook in the middle of the lane and never recover from the out side. Where other players were able to figure out how to tame the beast of a pattern. It was odd for many of the players because the outsides didn't hook as much as they were expecting. However, there were some players that were able to play them straighter and have a lot of success.

We want to welcome Donvan Awbrey and Ramell Smith to the SFT AHT family, and thank them for giving the club a try. We hope both of you had a great time and we look forward to seeing you at your next event! We also want to congratulate James Roethle for being this event's parlay power player, turning $25 into a quarter finals check. Also congrats to Chris Weyrauch, Rachell Carr, and Mike Ziegler on making to their first ever SFT AHT quarter finals at this event! We are always excited at the fact that different people are having success on a regular basis at our events!

The quarter finals and semi-finals were slightly interesting in the fact that there wasn't a lot of exciting finishes. The top 2 players in each division in the quarter finals were 30 pins or more ahead of the next person and each semi-final match was determined before the 10th frame had been bowled. The #1 seed Dylan Taylor defeated #2 seed William Nedry for back to back A division titles for him. The #1 seed Zack Huglin defeated Ted McKay for the B division title proving his dominance on short patterns. Finally, #2 seed Brian Cail defeated Chuck Lucas to get the C division title and return to a title match for a chance at his 3rd SFT AHT title.

The title match much like the rest of the event, didn't leave a lot of excitement involved. It started off fairly close, but then a big run by Zack gave him the lead and he maintained it. He was able to get his 2nd SFT AHT title defeating Brian and Dylan with a nice 261 game with handicap and continuing to be one of the best players in the club on short patterns. Dylan finished 2nd with 211 and Brian in 3rd with 204. Congrats to everyone and thanks for making this event so successful for us!

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SPREAD THE WORD THAT OUR FUN EVENT NEXT SATURDAY HAS BEEN CANCELED. We will pick back up on June 27th with a fun event at AMF Desert Hills. See you all there!
