Brunswick Mesa - 6/11/17

Location:

We had another huge turnout at Brunswick Zone Mesa with 120 total entries (89 qualifying 31 economy parlay), 34 cashers, 1 in 3.5 cash ratio, and paid out over $6,000.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a 40ft Sphinx oil pattern that started off with medium scoring and after a couple squads really opened up and allowed for higher scoring from players that could hook it a bit and play the middle of the lane. The average cut scores for the day were around +80 which requires bowling about 15 pins over your average per game.

We like to welcome our new bowlers! Welcome Gary Szymanski, Anthony Wampler, Debra Hover, Andre Murillo, Nicholas Collins, and Gilbert Armstrong. We hope you all had a great time in your first event and look forward to seeing you at our next one. A special congrats to Andre Murillo on making it to the quarters in his first ever event, also to Mike Killgore and Gary Hamm for making it to their first ever quarter finals. Also, nice bowling to our only parlay power player Derek Hamm!

The quarter finals was a big one with 27 players. With 9 in each division, they cut to the top 3 and it was a fight to get to those top 3 spots. In the A division there was Dylan Taylor, Damon Larue and Mike Fitzgerald. The B division had Correen Lieber, Ben Wacks, and Zack Huglin. The C Division was Chuck Lucas, Tim Satomba and Dave Oliver. The # 1 seeds of each division (Zack, Damon and Dave) got to pick the pair their match was bowled on. It’s interesting how much the #1 seed still doesn’t advance even with this advantage. This time we had Zack and Dave advance as #1 seeds, but in the A division Mike Fitzgerald came out ahead! This would mean that Dave and Mike would both be bowling for their first ever title and Zack bowling for his 4th SFT AHT title.

The final match started off close with all of the players not having any opens. However, as the match progresses there were some errand shots by all of the players which kept it all still pretty even. However, Mike threw some big shots in the 8th, 9th and 10th to put together a 3 bagger to lock up his first ever title and a whopping $1,000.00 first place check. A big congrats to him  and Dave on 2nd and Zack on 3rd. Thanks to all 120 entries that made this such an awesome event and a great payout! We look forward to seeing you all next Saturday at Glenfair lanes!
