Brunswick Mesa - 1/7/2018

Location:

Our event this weekend was the first of the 2018 season.  We had a big turnout for the season opener and saw 111 entries (80 qualifying and 31 economy parlay).  We had 28 cashers, a 1 in 4 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund.  The players bowled on the 38ft Alcatraz oil pattern that saw higher scores. It was a medium pattern where bowlers were able to play a variety of angles on the pattern.  Our cut scores were all above the +50 mark, which meant you had to bowl a little above your average to qualify.

We had some new bowlers join us for their first event at Brunswick Mesa.  We want to welcome Keith Ryan, Douglas Smith, Jonathan Jillson, Joshua Hancock, Cara Hamm, Andy Morin and Jerry Dasti who all bowled in their first event this weekend.  We hope you all had a good time and look forward to seeing you at our next event.

The semi-finals were decided fairly early in the match.  The bowler that was able to find their shot quickly were able to easily advance to the finals.  Michael Fitzgerald was able to defeat James Roethle, 251 to 178, for the A division.  Ernie Mendoza was able to get around Derek Hamm, 249 to 198, in the B division.  Jerry Dasti, who was bowling in his first event, was able to outlast Mike Stockinger, 248 to 190, in the C division.

The final match was pretty exciting!  All three players were bowling good and were pretty much neck and neck through 9 frames.  Jerry was able to fill his 10th frame, which shut out Michael Fitzgerald from 1st place. This forced Ernie to have to double in the 10th in order to beat him.  Ernie missed to a bit to the right, leaving a 2 pin, and he was able to make his spare to secure 2nd place and give Jerry his first Strikeforce Tour Title in his first ever event.

Thanks to everyone for coming out today! We look forward to seeing you all at our next event at Glenfair Lanes on Sunday, January 14th.
