Brunswick Via Linda Results - 10/4/15

Our event this Sunday was at Brunswick Via Linda lanes and was bowled on the 36ft Phase 1 oil pattern. It was a great day for bowling with the rain, and the turn out showed it. There was 59 total entries (45 qualifying entries & 14 economy parlay entries), 16 cashers a 1 in 4.3 cash ratio and paid out over $3,000.00. The players played the Phase 1 oil pattern in a variety of ways. Phase 1 has always played a little different then the other short patterns that we bowl on. No matter which center we have used this pattern at, the middle of the lane has been more playable then other short patterns like cheetah, boardwalk, or wolf.

We did keep our stream a live of having new bowlers come out to try the events out. Welcome Brandon Helton to the SFT AHT family and we hope to see him again at his next event. We also got to see some new bowlers bowl in their first ever SFT AHT quarter finals this weekend. Matthew Zweig, DeWayne Beck, and Jim Alme all made the quarter finals at this event too. It was Matt and Jim's second event, and DeWayne's third. Congrats guys, and up next is your first title match! Also congrats to David Durand and Ben Dewberry being our parlay power players making it to the quarter finals through the economy parlay.

The quarter finals were pretty dramatic. The C division had Nick Polanski who was out of the cut by 20 pins, bowl a huge game 3 to leap around the other two and become the #1 seed in the C division. In the A division Ron Schloss had two big games and a clutch finish in the third game to get around Matt Zweig for the A division title. In the B division, James Roethle was battling David Durand all three games and was able to go around him the last game to make another title match.

The final match was also an exciting one. It appeared that Ron Schloss was out of it early as he was giving both players pins, and started the match off missing a 10 pin. However, he threw some great shots to rally back into the match. It was close for all three going into the last few frames. James had a couple opens late that set him back and left it between Ron and Nick. Ron basically was in the situation to force Nick to do whatever he did in the 10th. If Ron doubled, Nick would have had to. Ron threw the first one in the 10th, but wasn't able to throw the second. Nick threw a great shot in the 10th and was able to clinch the win in a very close match. This was after Nick barely won his semi-final match against Stacie Huglin by one 1 pin! He bowled well and caught some huge breaks in match play to get his first ever SFT AHT
title! Congrats Nick!

Our next event is at AMF Deer Valley on Sunday and is a $1,000.00 standard event. See you all there!
