Brunswick Kyrene Results - 9/28/14

Location:

The event this weekend drew 107 entries, had 30 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out nearly $5,000.00 in main and side event prizefunds. The players bowled on the newest version of the Scorpion pattern which was at 47ft long. It was pretty clear there wasn't going to be many players hooking it a whole lot. The pattern however, did allow players to play further right as long as they had slower ball speeds. It was very clear however, that players that could play a tighter angle in the middle of the lane had the best ball reaction. Although the pattern was longer, and had less "hook", the scores were fairly high all weekend with the average cut score being slightly above +100.

As always we like to welcome all of the new members that came out to the event. Jerry Knight, David Acosta, Lea Mester, Danielle Saterlee, Justin Elizalde, Dan Krpata, John Crovedi, Lois Lunetto, and Dave Inoshita welcome to the SFT AHT family! We hope you all had a good time this weekend, and look forward to seeing you at your next event. We still can't believe after over 2 years we still have so many new bowlers at each event! We really do have the best club members!

Also congrats to Lea Mester on making it to her first ever quarter finals in her first ever event! That doesn't happen often and deserves a congrats! Also congrats to Steve Nichols, and Ken Love for making it to their first ever quarter finals as well. We also had some players show the power of the parlay and turn $25 into a quarter finals appearance. Congrats to Ron Schloss, Lea Mester, and Tom Large for showing the power of the parlay this weekend. Lea made it to the quarters, but Ron and Tom made it to the semi-finals and finals! The parlay is a great option for those of you that want to bowl for $1,000.00 on a budget!

The semi-final matches were between #1 seed Ron Schloss and #2 seed Ken Love in the A Division, #1 seed Jonathan Ferrell and #2 seed Billy Pretlove in the B Division, and #1 seed Tom Large and #2 seed Ted McKay in the C Division. The A division match wasn't very close with Ron continuing his dominance with a huge 250+ game and the front 7 strikes. The B division final match was fairly close until the end which Jonthan Ferrell threw some strikes when he needed them to defeat Billy. The C division was the closest of the three with Tom Large having the ability to strike out in the 10th to win by 1 pin. Tom threw the first, but left a four pin on the second shot for Ted McKay to move on.

Ted was the only person in the finals that had been in a final match and also had a title. The match started off with all of the players in the pocket, but early on Ted and Ron started off with strikes. Ted and Ron both had front 3 with a spare in the 4th. This was great to watch, but tough for Ron since he was spotting Ted 30 pins for the match. Ted and Ron ended up having about the same scoring pace for the rest of the game. Ron was unable to make up the handicap difference, with Ted bowling his highest scratch score of the weekend when he needed it the most! Congrats to Ted on his 2nd SFT AHT title and to the other finalists on making their first ever title match!

We will see you all at Glenfair Lanes in a couple weeks! See you there for the start of the final quarter of 2014!
