Brunswick Kyrene - 8/9/15

Location:

This event was an awesome one! We had all kinds of exciting finishes and firsts. The event had 82 entries (49 qualifying entries and 33 economy parlay entries), 21 cashers, a 1 in 3.9 cash ratio and paid out over $3,000.00 in main and side event prizefunds. The players bowled on the 40ft Brunswick Edge pattern that had some very interesting results. The scores for the entire tournament were much higher in the A division then any other division. Typically this is the opposite as the scores are usually higher in either the B or C divisions. However, scoring well on the pattern had a lot to do with playing the correct part of the lane which most of the A division bowlers seemed to be doing. However, the cut was also inflated by a very impressive performance that Jason Satterlee put on. He had a very nice 846 during qualifying that cemented that he was bouncing back from his slump and looking to win back to back events.

Yet again, this event had a ton of new bowlers and yet again, some of those new bowlers had success in their very first event with us. We want to welcome David Andress, Mike Hodge, Robert "Iggy" Petersen, Duwayne LaRue, Damon LaRue, Robert Borland, Chase Nesvig, David Durand, and David Abbott to the SFT AHT family! Crazy to think that after nearly 100 tournaments that we would have 9 new bowlers at one event. Crazy..., but awesome! Congrats to David Durand and David Abbott on advancing to the quarter finals in their first event, they even took a step further with meeting each other in the C division semi-finals, and Abbott making it all the way to the final match!

Also congrats to our parlay power players, Jason Satterlee and David Durand. Both players advanced all the way to the semi finals and final match with only a $25 investment. We also saw 33 players come out for the economy parlay at this event, which was awesome. We truly believe that there is very little reason to NOT come to a SFT AHT event now, if you have the time available. It is very affordable with the $25 economy parlay option, and now new bowlers come in with very fair and competitive averages with the new entering average rule. To our current members, now is a great time to really start racking up those punches and benefits for having new bowlers come out to enjoy the events. They use averages 15-20 pins lower then their league averages and it only costs them $25.

Now let's get into the quarter, semi and final matches. In the quarter finals, Jason Satterlee was clutch yet again, to go around Kyle Abbas for the A division title. Ben Dewberry lead the B division wire to wire to the B division champion. Also, both David Abbott and David Durand kept it together to go around Kyrsta Larue to advance to the C division semi-finals. Their semi-final match was a very close match also. Abbott ended up squeaking out the win by only 2 pins!

The final match was really a great one! David Abbott had the lead going into the tenth frame, but opened to give Dewberry the opportunity to win. Ben threw the first strike, but then got a 6 count leaving the 3-4-6-7. He had to get three pins to win by one and was able to do it and won by only one pin! He also needed David to miss both pins on his second ball after splitting, which happened! Very exciting! Great bowling guys! Jason was too far behind them either bowling in the 220's.

Thanks to everyone for coming out! We look forward to seeing everyone at our next event at AMF Chandler lanes. It is a standard event, which means $1,000.00 guaranteed for 1st place as long as you are in the progressive pot. See you all there!
