Brunswick Kyrene - 7/3/16

Location:

Our event was at Brunswick Kyrene this weekend, and it was another fun one! The event drew almost 100 entries, and was able to pay the $1,000.00 for first place! It had a 1 in 4 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on one of the longer oil patterns that we bowl on, the 47ft Scorpion. Most players were very straight, either from the right or the middle of the lane, they didn’t “belly” the ball very much. The key was consistent speed and the ball going fairly straight off the person’s hand.

As always we are excited to welcome more and more new bowlers to our events! Welcome Renee Sandoval, Riley Dempsey, Brian Martinez, Chip Clapp, Chuck Shields, and Larry Riley to the SFT AHT family. We are always happy to see new faces wanting to come give our events a try. We want to congratulate Renee, Riley, Chuck and Larry on all advancing to the quarter finals in their first event. Also congrats to Riley on making it all the way to the quarter finals.

Also congrats to Dylan Taylor and Chuck Shields on being the event’s parlay power players and turning their $25 economy parlay entry into spots in the quarter finals and some nice checks! Also congrats to Tatiyana Trowbridge, representing the ladies today, who won the parlay and bowled a great qualifying score, but was just barley bumped out of the cut after the last squad.

The quarter finals, the scores were a little lower than before. The A division had Brandon Trowbridge taking on Riley Dempsey, B division was Lynn Arthur vs Armando Viramontes and C division was Chase Nesbit vs Rene Sandoval. Lynn Arthur was the only number 1 seed that made it out of the semi-final round alive. Riley was able to defeat Brandon Trowbridge to make it to his first ever final match, and Chase Nesbit took down Rene Sandoval to move bowl the big check as well.

The final match was a lot of back and forth. It appeared that Lynn Arthur was going to run away with it as he started off with the first three strikes. However, some opens right after that, let everyone else back in. Going into the 10th frame, Riley had run out of frames to make up the handicap difference and left Chase and Lynn to duke it out for the top prize. Chase wasn’t able to put enough pressure on Lynn to take the lead back after Lynn’s early three bagger, and with a mark in the 10th Lynn Arthur won his 6th career SFT AHT title and $1,000.00.

Thanks to everyone for making this event another successful one! See you all in Las Vegas for the TAT this week, or at AMF Mesa in a couple weeks for our 40 frame game format!
