Brunswick Kyrene - 2/19/17

Location:

Today’s event was at Brunswick Kyrene lanes and had another huge turn out! We had 124 total entries (81 qualifying entries & 43 economy parlay), 35 cashers and a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio! The event paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prizes.  The players bowled on a very tough 43ft Shark oil pattern that forced most players to play the middle part of the lane. After a handful of events that were short or had plenty of friction, this event was definitely a change in pace and certainly in ball speed.

As always we like to welcome all of the bowlers participating in their first event! I still can’t believe how many new bowlers we see at every event. Lena Riley, Ron Riley, Raymond Vance, Mark Brower, Todd Colt, Mark Jatcko, Ron McDonald, Kyle Davis, Virgil Chandler, Thayne Hahn, Will Hover, Benn Jatcko, and Bob Hanson all bowled in their first event this Sunday and we hope they all had a good time! Also congrats to Kyle Davis and Jason Satterlee on also going all the way to the quarter finals through the economy parlay!

The quarter finals was on the fresh so scores were pretty low. We had Sean Ashley and Ron McDonald coming out of the A division, Justin Singleton, Ben Wacks and David Bishop squaring off in the B division and Chad Clapp, Renee Sandoval and Mike Mathis leading the C division. The match in A wasn’t close, with Sean bowling a very nice 251 with handicap to defeat Ron and move onto his 3rd SFT AHT final match. In the B division, it was close most of the way but in the end Ben Wacks was able to move out ahead of the other two guys by the 10th frame. In the C division, it was very close as all three guys could win going into the 10th but the small lead that Mike Mathis had built up ended up being enough to be the C division champion.

The final match was a lot like the semi-finals with the B and C division guys being close, but Sean Ashley being on another level. Sean missed an easy spare in the middle to give some hope to the other guys, but Sean pretty much had the match locked up before the 10th and was able to close it up in the final frames. Congrats to Sean on finally getting his first SFT AHT title and getting the monkey off his back while winning $1,000.00! Also congrats to Ben Wacks on winning $600 in second and to Mike Mathis on 3rd!

Thanks to everyone for coming out today and we look forward to seeing you next Saturday at Glenfair Lanes!
