Brunswick Kyrene - 12/4/16

Location:

Well our final event of 2016 was a BIG ONE! We had 107 total entries (80 Qualifying & 27 Economy Parlay), 28 cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prizefund! The players bowled on a very difficult 32ft PBA Wolf oil pattern, which much like last week, started off hooking A LOT but got tighter and tighter with every game that was bowled on it. Because the condition was influenced so much by the bowlers, the difference from pair to pair kept the scoring very low, with the average cut scoring being around +20, which doesn't even require bowling your average to accomplish. The difference this event compared to last weekends, is that nearly every player played the outside part of the lane, where last week, there were a few who had success playing the middle of the lane.

In our final event of the 2016 season we had 10 new bowlers join us! This still astonishes me everytime, that we get this many new bowlers even though its nearly our 150th tournament. Let's welcome Rob Sliskovich, Bryana Edgell, Payton Steele, Kevin Convirs, Dave Lloyd, Kenneth Windahl, Anthony Bouldin, Peter Trofimuk, Sean Malloy, and Josh Molloy to the SFT AHT family! We got ot see Dave Lloyd and Sean Malloy make it to the quarter finals in their first ever event. Also congrats to Brian Martinez and Taylor LaRue for advancing to theirp first ever quarter finals as well. As always, we also had some parlay power players in Hokey Begay, Brian Jackson, and Ernie Malapo who turned $25 into bigger checks.

The quarter finals was another nail biter. The lanes were very tough once again since they were stripped and re-oiled. The A division was a shootout between Eric Flick, Zach Martinez, and Dylan Taylor with Eric and Zach coming out ahead and Eric being the #1 seed. The cut to advance to semi's in A was +28. The B division was also very close between Brian Jackson, Hokey Begay and Brooke Carroll. It took +81 to advance out of B, but Hokey and Brian were the ones to do it, with Brian being the #1 seed. The C division was the closest of the 3, with the top 3 players only being separated by 4 pins. Sean Molloy was the odd man out, who just missed at +61, where as Ernie Malapo and James Roethle moved on at +65 each. Ernie was the #1 seed.

The semi-finals were very close in the A and C division. The A division match had Eric Flick in the lead, but a missed single pin spare in the 10th frame allowed Zack to take home the win by only 12 pins 207 to 195. In The C division, both players went back and forth the whole time, but some bad count by Ernie through out the game, allowed James to sneak out the 2 pin win. The B division was close at the beginning, but a few late game opens by Hokey gave Brian the win and B Division title.

The final match started off close between Zach and Brian with James falling behind quickly due to some opens. However, Zach had an open early which James to start to catch him as Brian accelerated out to the lead to win his first ever SFT AHT title. James wasn't able to completely close the gap but really made a run to only lose 2nd place by a few pins. Big congrats to those guys on their great bowling and Brian on turning $25 into $1,000.00 through our economy parlay option!

I look forward to seeing all of you at our season ending events coming up next weekend!
