Our event at AMF Union Hills was another great one! We had 98 entries, 26 cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio, paid out nearly $5,000.00 and claimed another first time champion at his home house. The bowlers bowled on a 37ft Kegel Broadway oil pattern that yielded very high scores. This was one of our highest scoring events if not the highest scoring event we have ever had. The scores on Saturday won’t incredibly high, but it seemed that once everyone started playing the lanes similar on Sunday, the scores went through the roof! We even had a 300 game bowled by Kevin Enomoto! Most of the cut scores were over +100! Check down below for the full results and scores.
As always we want to welcome some of the new members that joined us this weekend. James Aubuchon, Bryan Carroll were the newest members of the SFT AHT family and we welcome them! We also want to congratulate Steven Acuff on making his first ever SFT AHT quarter finals this weekend! He just bowled in his first event also a couple weeks ago. Also congrats to Joe Mascio and Hokey Begay for showing the power of the parlay this weekend! Joe only paid $25 for the parlay and advanced to the quarter finals where he took home $110.00! Hokey took his $25 investment even further by making it all the way to the semifinals and taking home $220.00!
The quarter finals was a good one, we had a lot of players drop out and other players take their spots the very last game of the quarter finals round. It left the A division finals with #1 seed Mike Morales taking on #4 Jakob Butturff, and #2 seed Angelo Abbate taking on #3 seed Kevin Enomoto. Jakob and Angelo ended up bowling huge scores to move on to the A division finals. The B division semifinals were between #1 seed Roger Sensing vs #4 seed Billy Pretlove and #2 seed Hokey Begay vs #3 seed Shawna Strause. Billy won his match easily and although Hokey only won his match by a few pins, he opened in the 10th frame of the game. This meant that Billy Pretlove would take on Hokey Begay for the B division title!
The B division finals weren’t too exciting with Billy Pretlove continuing his dominance and bowling another 250+ score to defeat Hokey and move on to bowl for his first ever title. The A division however was very close. Angelo Abbate had great carry but a lack of stamina created a few errand shots that left him splits. Jakob Butturff on the other hand was throwing a plastic ball and in turn was having some issues figuring out his carry. He had the iffy ball reaction of slightly high 6 pins (lefty), and flat 7’s. This combination of bowlers created a very back and forth match with both players getting up in the 10th with an opportunity to win. Jakob needed a strike to claim victory in the 10th and a 7 pin left him a few pins short of bowling for his first SFT AHT title.
The final match started off being a good one, with some early opens by Billy and some early strikes by Angelo. Those events cleared the handicap difference up pretty quickly which at first seemed like it gave the edge to Angelo. However, just a few more frames in, Billy had strung another 5 bagger and a couple missed spares by Angelo put him down in the match scratch which meant Billy who had more handicap ended up winning the match easily! This is Billy’s first title in quite a number of events, and he earned it bowling incredibly well all day! Congrats buddy!
