AMF Union Hills - 07/28/18

Location:

Our event this weekend was at AMF Union Hills.  We had another great turn out with 83 total entries (57 qualifying and 26 economy parlay), 25 cashers, and a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and paid out over $3,850.00 in main and side event prize funds!  The bowlers played on one of the longer oil patterns that we use, Kegel Eiffel Tower.  It is 48 ft. long, but for the distance it is very thin ratio. This means, while there isn't a lot of hook on the back end, the oil starts to go away in the mid-lane and the ball starts hooking earlier and earlier without a lot of games bowled on the pattern. This normally gives players that are comfortable playing the deep inside lines a bit of an advantage and that is how this event played out as well for the most part.

We want to welcome Robert Smith, Jr. to the SFT AHT family we hope you had a great time at your first event! We look forward to seeing you at our next one!  We want to congratulate Anthony Dang, Kevin Long, Jeffrey Webb, Soni Glover and Robert Smith, Jr. for advancing to the quarterfinals for the in a while today! We love seeing fresh faces out having success! Also congrats to Soni Glover and Brooke Carroll on being this event's Parlay Power players advancing to the quarterfinals through the $25 economy parlay!

The semi-final matches put Dylan Taylor and Justin Singleton against each other for the A division title, Anthony Dang and Brian Jackson for the B division title, and Robert Smith, Jr and Kevin Dollar for the C division title.  Dylan and Justin both started off their match trying to feel out the lanes, but Justin wasn’t able to carry and was unable to keep up Dylan’s striking ability. In the B division, Anthony and Brian both had the same amount of handicap and Brian was able to make most of his spares.  He had a clean game and it was all he needed to defeat Anthony who struggled to find a line. Lastly, Robert was able to also convert a few more spares then Kevin which would punch his ticket into his 1st title match ever.

The final match started off with some excitement as Brian Jackson struck in his first three frames.  It looked early on that Brian was going to be able to capture his 2nd title, but Robert and Dylan were able to stay close.  Midway through the match Dylan began to find his groove while Brian began to struggle with carry and transition.  Robert was also able to stay clean and keep some pressure on both bowlers with his handicap.  It would all come down to the final frame between Dylan and Robert.  Dylan was first up and was able to strike on his first ball in the tenth, then was able to strike again for his 2nd ball and got 7 on his fill ball in the tenth to finish at 255.  This would force Robert to spare and get good count in the tenth frame.  Robert’s first ball in the tenth went a little high, leaving the 1-3-6.  This was a big moment as Robert needed to spare in order to win the match with anything less would give the match to Dylan.  Robert’s spare attempt looked a little high, but was able to get enough the 3-pin to knock over the 6-pin which gave Robert 263 and his 1st SFT AHT title and $800.00!!!  Congrats to Dylan for 2nd place and also to Brian for 3rd place!

Our next event will be next Sunday at Lakeview Lanes.  This will be a 2-squad event starting at 10:00 am.  Hope to see you all there!
