AMF Peoria Results - 7/29/12

Location:

We had our very first event on the far west side of the town and it was a great one! We had a lot of new members from the west side come out to compete and join the Strike Force Tour Family. The event drew a total of 79 entries, had 22 cashers, a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio, and paid out over $2,000. We were in a part of town we have never been in, but the support from old and new SFT family members was amazing as always! We had some great story lines and more memories to add to the 2012 season.

To start it off, was new member David Volking Sr. who really took advantage of the Senior & Women’s division and made the cut with a score of minus 3. David was so disappointed in how he bowled that he didn’t even know he made it! We had to call him up and tell him! To make the story even better, David wanted to know how he could give the oil pattern another try before the quarter finals. We told him about pacing and bowling only side events if you already advanced to the quarter finals.

David walked in on Sunday and told me that he was going to try and slow his ball speed down a little bit. He wanted to try some different things to try and improve his score for the quarter finals. His first game out of the gate after the adjustment was almost a perfect one! David’s slower ball speed got him the front 8 strikes and he finished with a nice 268 game! David was among a few others that had a chance at perfection. Joe Faciana had the front 9 strikes and so did Brian Waugh! Brian Waugh is still currently the only bowler to bowl a 300 game during a SFT AHT event.

We had some more bowlers taking advantage of the Economy Parlay and making the quarter finals off of a $25.00 investment. All of the bowlers on Saturday that won the economy parlay, all made the quarter finals as well! Lynn Arthur, Tom Large and David Volking Sr. all made the quarter finals and showed the power of the parlay! Lynn and Tom were the top 2 bowlers in their division on Saturday, and David advanced as the Senior/Women. They all had a chance to win a $1,000 off their $25 entry but all of them didn’t advance any further. Still great bowling guys!

One of the biggest story lines was our new member Bobbie Hinojos who was destroying it all day on Sunday. Bobbie led the B division on Sunday with a nice score of +114. She originally had her shoes off after the quarters but, was pleasantly surprised to see that she was the number to advance to the semi’s. She took advantage of it and defeated Jesse Decker and Bill Bracket to advance to the finals and represent the B Division.

The A Division from the start of quarters was a real shoot-out between two guys, David Kurlan and Tim Bryden. David and Tim were both more than a hundred over after the first two games of the quarter finals. However, Charlie Krauch knew the importance of resilience and fought back his last game with a nice 253 game scratch! This launched him past Tim and into the A division semifinals. David was the winner at our Brunswick Mesa event and Charlie won a title at AMF Union Hills. It was clear that both of these guys knew what it took to win, and their match proved it. The match was a real back and forth between the two. Very similar to his situation at AMF Union Hills, Charlie stepped up in the 10th with the ability to strike in the 10th to lock up his match. Charlie proved that being a champion not only takes resilience but well-timed poise! He threw great shots to clinch the match and move on to the tournament finals.

Although there was a lot of fan support for Bobbie to represent the ladies and take down Charlie, she didn’t bring enough fire power. Charlie was absolutely in the zone shooting a score of 256 on one of the lowest scoring pairs for the day. It was an incredible performance and a very fitting one for Charlie to earn his 2nd title and take home the BIG CHECK! Congrats to Charlie and Bobbie for topping our field of 79 entries. Great bowling guys!

Hope to see everyone at our next event at AMF Chandler lanes. We will feature all of the same great tournament features, but mid-week qualifying will not be available and Economy Parlays will only be available on Sunday. If you have any questions feel free to call Craig at 480-686-5704. I hope to see you there!
